Put it in a low-risk mutual fund and then use it to buy a house some years from now.

No way! Use it as a deposit, and get a massive mortgage on a "kick-ass" apartment NOW.

Mind you, I say that, but I bought my place just before house prices inflated to buggery - well, where I am, anyway. I pay £200 a month on a nice flat now, whereas people slightly younger than me pay the same for a hovel. Capitalism is great, when it works in your favour. There is no moral to this story. Fantastic!

Subdivide your flat, lease it to out to students. Within two to three weeks they will have turned it into a hovel for you, and you'll be able to rent both parts out to slightly younger people for the same money you pay now. Doubling your money. Capitalism's great! (but don't quote me on that  )

I knew Macs were overpriced but I didn't realise they were that expensive...

I'd fill an olympic size swimming pool with reeses pieces and then see how far I could run across it before I sank to the bottom and was forced to eat my way out.

Hmmm...Curiouser and curiouser. I'm beginning to wonder if LA's homicide rate has gone up much recently...

They're not. I'd still have some $98K left over. It's just I'm not very good when it comes to parting with money ;)

You could almost buy a UK PS3 with it, but you'd have to throw in your hope of redemption.

Which might work, but I despise Windows Vista. Give it another 6 years.
