CC runs too slow.

Postby Woltato on Fri Oct 29, 2010 5:58 pm

Concise description:
  • upgrade the CC server/s so that it runs quicker

Specifics/Details:
  • playing CC can often be painfully slow
  • The message "communication with the server has timed out. Wait another 10 seconds?" is all too familiar
  • The boffins at CC must be able to implement some kind of upgrade to speed things up

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • It'll no longer be annoyingly slow
  • I'll no longer be in danger of running out of time, even in casual games due to the slowness
  • Before anyone tries to suggest that it's a problem with my computer, I've played on several different machines, in different locations (hence different broadband connections) and experienced the same problem on all of them. Access to other websites is fine whilst CC is running slowly.

You are correct. At times CC does run slow.
Except Im betting its a peaktime bandwidth issue rather than a simple upgrade to software issue. And a new server machine is pretty costly.

When do you seem to have the most issues? And is it purely related to taking actions in games?

Over the last few months, Lack has been improving performance and code behind the scenes, and we seem to have escaped some of the big slow-downs we had this past summer.

If it was a bandwidth issue then surely all sites would be slow. This problem occurs only on CC while other sites are running fine.

Not for me. CC runs fine except at certain parts of the day for me, but that's because I live 10 miles away from no where.

"CC runs fine except certain parts of the day." Well. You've contradicted yourself.

no dude.. .the bandwidth that connects cc to the internet ... And it is also one of those very expensive things to upgrade.

That is usually what slows up a site.

I've noticed this, it seems to be mostly friday and saturday evenings (GMT). I just assumed there were a lot of people online.

Well, I'm online during the good parts of the day, and it's been consistent with my internet connection, as everything slows down during the "bad times". So I know it's not a CC thing only.

well incorrect man.

You can run a constant check on CC with tools on the web. And yes sometimes its slow. Thats like saying there are a lot of Murders here in Reynosa, but you know what... a lot of citys have murders so we shouldnt try to fix the problem.
