What Determines Spoil Card Colour?

What Determines Spoil Card Colour?

When you finish your turn where you have defeated at least one country you of course get a Spoil Card.

1/
What determines the colour that the spoil card is going to be?
Is there a set pattern?
Does it depend on the country, how many counties you defeat or the colour(s) of the countries you defeat. Or is it simply drawn from the pack randomly?

The reason I ask is because on occasion I might have three cards, say 1 BLUE and 2 GREEN I'm desperate for my next card to be RED so I've got a set I can turn in next turn, but the darn game will turn around and give me another BLUE card.

This leaves me stranded with 4 'useless' cards for another round, in which time I could be taken out of the game.

So what I need is a way to ensure the game gives me that RED card and not the BLUE, or a way where I can play for the colour I may need.

2/
Also an aside question. What is point of the cards that are [Bracketed]?
I understand it's because you own the country of that spoil, but is there any advantage in that?

3/
Oh and just one more. Is there anyway of seeing/knowing what colour spoil cards other players are holding?
This would have the advantage of knowing if they have a set ready to turn in, you would be able play with that in mind.

1. From my knowledge, it is all random.

2. Bracketed means you own that card's territory. (Say on Classic, your card is Perth, if you own Perth, it will be bracketed)

3. No, you can not see what they are holding.

If you own the country when you cash in the card, you normally get a +2 bonus auto added to it in addition to the rest of the troops for the cash. The exception is nuclear spoils, which means you nuke that territory you own.

Q2/ Answer:
Thank you, The +2 armies for a set of spoils handed with at least one owned/bracketed is interesting information, that I have not been able to find in the Rules/FAQ/Help anywhere.

See the instructions page: http://www.conquerclub.com/public.php?mode=instructions2

What's a group of spoils? You earn spoils at the end of every turn in which you successfully conquer a region, just like reality! These spoils each represent a region on the map and can be blue, green or red. If you acquire 3 spoils of any one colour, or one of each, you now have a "group" of spoils which you may exchange for additional troops at this time. The value of these spoils depends on which spoils game option was chosen: escalating or flat-rate. You also get a 2 troop bonus on any region that you own if it is represented in the group.
