Uno Cards? POLL ADDED -- plz vote!

Postby CreepyUncleAndy on Tue Mar 13, 2007 8:39 pm

How about adding cards that let you skip the next player's turn or reverse the order of play? You know, Uno-style! :P (Only as an option, of course)

That's great, that would make a game a lot more interesting.. or reverse turn order... would be very annoying

I think it is an awesome idea... Wild cards or something of that nature... The only problem is that how would you spend them if you say, had 2 blue cards, 1 red card, one reverse card and one skip card?

You might have it so that if you got one of those cards, you could play them individualy.

If you don't like the idea, then don't play a game that has that option ;)

I think it would be fun to do occasionaly

ya as an option how about hav it instead of normal cards so in this type of game you have reverse turn order and whatever else instead of having red blue and green cards. THen you would be still hand in three but three of one kind (three reverse play orders) or one of each which could mean you get to choose what to do.

As I already pointed out above, that wouldn't work... The only way you are forced to have a set when you can hold five cards in your hand is to have three types of cards... If you made more types of cards, you'ld have to be able to hold more in your hand...

As hecter said above, the best way for this to work would be to be able to use that card by itself...

That would work, you'd completely replace the blue, green, and red cards and replace them with skip, reverse, and something else. the probrlem is that how would a freestyle game work? You can't skip or reverse in a freestyle.

I wouldn't want them replaced... I just want added cards that you could use one at a time that would have those effects... That way you could still keep forts.

YES

Why is everyone so afraid of OPTIONS? If you don't like the OPTION in a game, it is then your OPTION to not join that game!

UNO style cards would be very cool. SKIP, REVERSE, WILD. The Draw two and Wild Draw Four could be a negative bonus to the person to which they are played.

I like it.

EDIT -- I've added a poll to this thread. -- please vote!

OMG....I didn't think anyone would actually LIKE this idea! Okay, cool, I guess we're close to consensus on this one.

We wouldn't have to change colors. There would still be Red, Green and Blue cards, but in addition to, say, Blue Territory cards, there would also be Blue Skip Cards, Blue Reverse Cards, et cetera (for all three colors). I would suggest playing them as a set -- Red China, Blue Reverse, Green Skip, for example (which would count as a mixed set, add +2 armies to China if you own it, reverse the order of play and skip the guy who would go next in the reversed turn order).

Of course, being able to play a single Uno card would be a nice way to make space for a mixed set you're hoping for.

Draw 2 and Draw 4....hmmm....not sure how to handle these. Maybe they could be replaced with a "Next Player Doesn't Get To Draw A Card" card?

Dang, if I knew this was gonna be such a popular thread, I'd have put a poll on it! 8)

Well, you couldn't reverse order in freestyle, that's true. But when you play a skip card, the person after you would get to finish his turn this round, but next round, he wouldn't get a turn. Instead of pickup cards, you could have cards taken away. And as I said before, you could play those cards by themselves, to avoid things like playing Skip Skip Reverse. But ya, I think it's a great idea.

Freestyle you could have switch instead of reverse you swap positions with the person whos go is next after your move so It would be a bad card if you where in the lead but good if you where last

well i think it would work let me explain how i would like it to work this would be just for an option remember:

what we currently have as a red card could become a swich places card

what we currently have as a blue card could become an escalating armies card

what we currently have as a blue card could become a reverse play order card

this would mean that the classic use of the cards is very different as it would need to be. These cards would be used in the same way (having to turn in three cards) but if you turn in a mixed set you get to choose what to do.

I think this is better so that people cannot play a card every turn which means there is still an element of planning involved with what set people wish to play. Obviously the actual content of these cards could change but i believe it would be important to have the additional armies card

Messing with turn order entails a lot of programming work, which I'd rather spend on other tasks at this time.
