Teammate Strategizing

Postby Gamblar on Sun Sep 26, 2010 4:08 am

So I know secret diplomacy is a no no, but I would assume conferring with a teammate in secret is ok because we are already allied? I just want to make sure before I play a doubles game with a friend and our opponents see no chat between us, and then proceed to blast me for conferring with my teammate in secret.

EDIT:

Just thought of some other questions relating specifically to doubles games...

How are points distributed after the game (I understand how they are done in regular games, but not doubles games)?

If, for example, my teammate winds up with 3 territories in Australia and I wind up with 1, can I give that territory to my teammate? If not, do we still receive a bonus for it?

Is there anything else worth mentioning about doubles games?

first of all, in teamgame games you are expected to confer with your teammate, so indeed you can communicate however you want. e.g. me and a teammate of mine take our turns while on the phone.

points are distrubuted as normal, however the points of all teammembers are added together. so in a 2vs 2 situation team 1 adds their collective points versus team 2's collective point. effectively creating a 1 vs 1 situation. e.g. my teammate and i are combined 3000 points and so is the other team. then its 3000, vs 3000 = 20 points to the victors. Then the points are added/subtracted. So if team 1 wins, then both players in team 1 gets 20 points, and both players in team 2 losses 20 points.

1 players needs to hold the entirety of a continent before getting a bonus and no you cannot give your country to your teammate. however you can give him your troops so you leave your country undefended save for a 1 and then your teammate can take it and claim the bonus next turn... if he can hold it..

did i mention you can place troops on your teammate's countries AND fortify troops to your teammates? think about it, its the key difference to teamgames

Thanks for the good info, it's just what I was looking for. I did think of one other question if you get around to it though.

Do both of team 1's players go first? Or is it Team 1 Member A, Team 2 Member A, Team 1 Member B, Team 2 Member B? I ask because I always thought going first held a pretty big advantage, in fact, when I used to play on a board we would fix everyone's first turn reinforcements at 4 or something. So if both team 1's members got 1st and 2nd turns...it'd be nice to know. It brings up the point that so far, all 8 games I've played, I have created, and in all those 8 games I had the first turn. Shouldn't the turn orders be random? I dunno, maybe I'm missing something...I'm new...humor me :P

It alternates between teams, so it will be Team 1 member A, then Team 2 member A, then team 1 member B then Team 2 Member B then back to Team 1 member A (assuming you are playing Sequential). The starting order is random, so you have just been very lucky so far. (this also means that the doubles game may not start with Team 1 member A, but could be Team 2 member B, but the order will still be the same i.e. after 2B, it will be 1A).

Hope this helps.

the opposing team can not see your game chat unless you take the little check mark off below the text box. also if you want 2 chat to them for the ussual gl or gg you need 2 take the check mark off
