Tournament Tab Premium only Column

Postby naxus on Sun Sep 19, 2010 8:35 pm

Tournament Tab Premium Only Column

Concise description:
  • Under the Tournaments Tab add a descriptive column at the top that says "Premuim Only". Under that put a check or x or something next to the tourney name to let freemiums know that its only premium

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • It will make it easier to distinguish between the two types of tourneys

As the vast majority of tournaments are for premium members, the idea would work better in reverse. But I don't think this a good idea to have.....freemiums should buy premium if they want to participate in more tournaments.

I'm not sure I agree with your reasoning, Night Strike. Introducing this feature wouldn't allow freemium members to participate in more tournaments, so the incentive to buy premium would remain. This feature would only help freemiums find the tournaments they are able to join anyway.

If you don't want to make it as explicit, a column for the number of games one would be playing at a time works too. Which would be also useful for premium members who limit themselves to a certain number of games.

I like this option. It wouldn't only help freemium players but also premiums who want to join tournaments with less games required to be played.

This is something I was thinking, too. Though, I understand it would be extra work for the TD taking care of Tournament Tab.

I'm floating a bit away from current suggestion but it is supporting this idea so perhaps it should be thought about a form that every TO needs to fill and add to the first post of tournament where he mentions the things needed for the TD who adds tournaments to database. That way the job for TD would be easier and TO can make sure that all the data would be correct. Those who don't fill a form, won't get added to the database as fast as others (they get added once the tourney fills? Or when TD has time to look up data).

For anything other than a simple bracket tournament, that amount can vary greatly. And it'll even vary in many bracket tournaments as early rounds are best of 3 and later are best of 5 (for example). Many league tournaments have games go out every week, so even though you may only get 2 at a time, you may have others running longer than a week. I just don't think it's a feasible option. I have requested an option for projected time to complete, so hopefully that will help some issues.

And zz, a form is not going to happen. The whole reason we have the current system is to NOT use a form. Currently 1 director checks open tournaments for minimum requirement then adds them to the database, but any director can move them to ongoing when he notices they are full. It's a system that speeds up the start of tournaments while still getting data into the database effectively.
