Slowpoke avatars?

Anybody know what's up with all the avatars that feature the pokémon Slowpoke?

Here's the story:

So, I while ago, I wanted a new avatar idea and was perusing a particular website (4chan, to be exact) and noticed some awesome slowpoke costumes. I realized this would make for an awesome avatar series, so I saved a bunch of them and started using them. Then, when the whole CC Summer Bash thing started, I saw this as a good chance to make my own bash...a slowpoke bash, if you will. I made my own "Spread the Slowpoke" avatar and signature, and convinced a bunch of members of a usergroup to do the same. It spread like the Bird Flu and soon a ridiculous amount of people were using the slowpoke avatar.

Then, as soon as the Summer Bash ended, I was so God damned sick of slowpoke and switched to Darkstalkers (an old arcade game. My current one is the character "Sasquatch").
