False. If it's simply a statement of fact, it can't be idiotic or clever; it's simply true or false. The only thing that could potentially be "idiotic" is my conclusion that your attempted act of politeness, since it is a lie, is not actually desirable or genuine. understand why people choose to engage in trivial banter when they know they don't really mean what they're saying, like when you say "how's it going?" to your coworker who you've said maybe three sentences to during your entire employment. The fact that I choose not to engage in similarly useless
faux-conversation does not mean something's missing from my makeup. It only means that I don't do things just because other people do them.
