That is ok, yes. However, please be aware that all diplomacy should be conducted in game chat. It's not ok to secretly agree not to attack each other. That's what team games are for.

Just be careful when playing multi player games that you don't favor your friend unintentionally. I always suggest to play private games when playing with friends or family. i do realize you are a freemium so maybe just play 1v1 against each other.

I will occasionally play in a game with my son. I announce right up front that we're related. I don't do this so much for folks to know, so much as I do it because it helps to "keep us honest" when folks DO know.
