Team Mojo (not the bandit)

Postby Master Fenrir on Tue Aug 10, 2010 12:21 am

Out of curiosity, about how long would you say it takes you to create enough mojo with a partner that you don't even have to chat?

I prefer to chat and bullshit, even if there's nothing to talk about, but I'm curious about others. I've noticed that even with 50+ games with partners, I still chat and leave notes and stuff in dubs and quads games. But with trips, I need maybe two or three games with somebody to learn how to compliment their play, and nothing really needs to be said.

always chat...always...in clan games we chat over every single move.
In dubs it perhaps gets a little bit less. But in quads and trips definately always chatting.
Certain games that i dont care about as much (ie playing for fun) i dont chat much at all....but its only cause those partners dont say much either...so i look like an idiot talking to myself

I think it really differs with different people you team with. Most times, I talk quite a bit, but in certain games (i.e. Poison Rome dubs w/ jakewilliams) we both basically KNOW what needs to be done, so there is a lot less chat there than what's regular for me.

I think it depends on the partner and the situation. If your partner is capable, you'll trust them in clean up or set up phases, but if you don't trust them you'll talk. Also, if the map is a time honored classic where you are both skilled or if its a new or intricate map will dictate the amount of conversation. Likewise, your partner could be the most competent player on the site but certain turns there are multiple potential maneuvers and it's nice to see all the options and consider the pro's and con's. I'll probably leave at least 1 line of dialogue in the game chat each turn (sometimes not) but when the game progresses to a important phase I'll tend to get more vocal. And whether the game is cards or no spoils also plays a factor (but maybe that was not what OP meant)

Trap + Jpeter15 (300+ games exp together) = Zero dialogue on Ancient Greece, NS, Sunny; lots of dialogue on Holy Roman Empire, NS, Fog
Trap + Jakewilliams (~60 games exp together) = Zero dialogue on Dawn of Ages, NS, Sunny; lots of dialogue on WW2 Europa, Esc, Sunny

This thread just lost all of it's sexiness since it is not about General Mojo or a Bandit.

I don't think I've had any game teammates for long enough to really know...but I always like to have something written down in chat about strategy or future plans, just so nothing gets misinterpreted or missed.

when you are learning with someone, it is always helpful to use chat... i mostly play with real life friends and we use CC as an excuse to talk during the day... so, we may call for turns, but never discuss any of the games at all as we take turns... the conversation generally goes, "well, did you read that article? should we change up our fantasy league? WHAT THE F*** ARE YOU DOING?!!! DID YOU HIT AUTO?!!!"... and i am not kidding...-the black jesus

I have a few public teams where there is no chat at all, though most of those are on standard maps like classic, middle east, etc... Clan games and intricate maps i usually post at least twice a day depending on how fast the game moves.

Usually players who work well together chat more, but i find i work better with players when there is less needed to be said. There are certain players that I can play maps like Waterloo and not offer a single piece of advice, and the game goes as if i were posting my ideas exactly. Usually comes after 5-10 games on a repeated map that i am able to get a "mojo" with a player.

I will chat no matter what. The more chat there is tends to come from a good strategy based on drop.
