Trademark Issues?

Postby WorldCup4James on Sat Jul 31, 2010 1:53 pm

I was wondering if I can name two different groups in my tournament after 2 different brands of soft drinks? I´m assuming this is a problem with the trademark of the companies, but I just wanted to make sure...
Thanks.

It'll be fine. Maybe you want a disclaimer if you're that concerned but I highly doubt (1) anyone will sue you, (2) anyone will confuse those teams as being sponsored by said brands and (3) anyone would think the mark was diluted by you using it. I assume you tournament is going to be a Soda War to determine who the best soft drink is or something to that effect, you'll be fine.

Take it from a lawyer. yes this could put you into trouble.....but its highly unlikely.
So what you do is, you go right ahead with whatever you have planned, of which i have no information, however shoud any compagny send CC or you a cease and desist order, please comply..
got it?
the have fun putting your tournament together...

It´s going to be a Coke vs. Pepsi competition. Players will be placed randomly into either the Cocacola or the Pepsi conference and the conference from which the winner emerged from wins the Coke vs. Pepsi competition. I thought that it matches my theme of August, plus I couldn´t think of any names for the 2 conferences. If you want to join just click on my signature image. Thanks.

I see that it´s been done before with movies, tv shows and sports leagues so I see I´m not the only one. If I here any complaints I´ll stop. Maybe I´ll just switch from Coke vs. Pepsi to Soda vs. Water or something.

A whole bunch of hoopla for nothing. Decided to forget the whole soda thing.

Very creative, no way I wouldve thought of that. I do like pancakes...actually i like german style pancakes more than crepes...but crepes are pretty good.
