How long do you typically have to wait for your next turn?

Postby King Doctor on Wed Jun 23, 2010 8:38 am

Answers please.

Have signed up for games, but am now sitting around waiting while none of my opponents do anything. Is this normal? Do people usually take all of their 24 hours? Am I really going to have to wait 72 hours for my next go?

It depends on who you are playing. Some people sit online all day but like to think about moves for hours. Others only log in once a day and do their turns then. Also, if the game type is team it's more likely that the player is waiting to see what their team players think about potential moves and overarching strategy. If you want a quick game the best format is likely a 1v1.

An alternative would be to buy premium where you can do speed games where the time limit for a turn is 5 minutes, but you could go to live chat and on the callouts tab you could talk to people about arranging a quick match that wouldn't necessarily have to be a speed game.

This is actually the most helpful post I've ever written on the forums.

Thanks for the tip.

I guess that some time next month I'll be able to give it a go...

I played freemium for over a year, Back then I used to keep one or two slots for 1v1's only for exactly this reason. Also if possible perhaps use 3rd slot for 4 player games and only one slot for 8 player games, as those can theoretically make you wait a week for your turn :)

With a bit of luck, and 1-2 slots for 1v1, you'll find some fast games. Just as I said, avoid playing four 6-8 players games at the same time =)
And if you enjoy the site, throw out $25 for premium, it's worth it :)

Some good posts in this topic. As mentioned, some players do take 12+ hours, I'm often one of them, due to being busy throughout the day.

What you can do as a Freemium, aside from the suggestions already mentioned, is keep a slot open for 'Real Time' games---find a user who is online, and wants to play Real Time, by posting in the Callouts Forum or checking out Live Chat, and you can play hot-seat with all interested. But beware, the users still have 24 hours to take their turn, just everyone agrees not to take that long. But the games can go long if someone wanders away.

Best advice, as artfully articulated by Arama86n---if you enjoy Conquer Club, purchase Premium Membership and get Unlimited Games, Speed Games, Private Games, and more.

lol, you started your account 11 months ago

on topic, premium is the best option, it's worth it even to just play 10 games at a time, or even to just play speed games. Some people say they can't afford it, but I always question that if you can afford a computer and internet service...

if that really isn't an option, there's often a person or two in live chat looking for a real time game as mentioned before

get premium and start like 100 1-1 and then you'll have to wait like 5 min max for a turn

another option you can try is to play freestyle games.

they can be a lot harder, so that is a risk you are taking, but with a freestyle game everybody has to take their turn within 24 hours, so you can at least play once a day, instead of 8-player games where you can play once every 4 days if you're unlucky.

take note though, that with freestyle you can gain an advantage by starting your turn before or after everybody else, depending on the moment. and even worse, you can take turns together, so your whole strategy could be ruined if someone logs on at the wrong time.

but overall, once you get used to it, freestyle games are great for freemium players, as the game goes way faster.
