Tournament Contribution Medals - The 30 limit.

Tournament organisers get a medal for every tournament they run and the count is not capped at 30.

This will improve things... for tournament organisers such as Blitzaholic, HighlanderAttack, etc. as it will show exactly how much time and effort they have put into CC, represent true figures, increase medal count, inflate egos etc.

A trivial matter maybe but please vote and post feedback.

I know HA doesn't care about medals, and I'm sure that goes for these others as well

more importantly, medals are supposed to be for playing and winning games, not running tourneys, this would ruin people's achievements on the board, they would be completely overshadowed by TO's with hundreds of medals. Also, people would just run a ton of tourneys for the medals, which would increase the number of tourneys in the create/join forum, and the TD's say there are already too many, and it would decrease the quality of the tourney's run

I'm sure there are other problems which I'm not thinking of right now, such as technichal server things (I'm definitely not a computer genius)

I agree, with an exception: increment follow-on medals by 10 (or some number well higher than one)

After the first 30 tournaments, ten more needed to get another medal. This way, TO's have some time before having to give out extra medals.

As for the post about "too many tournaments" - how can there really be "too many" if people are enjoying them?

Maybe the problem is the current standard "a medal for every tournament up to 30" is too much - maybe the exception idea I had should be started earlier; like, get a medal for running a tournament, sure... then the number doesn't change until 10 are reached, and an extra increment for every ten thereafter. That way, someone who's run 70 tournaments gets recognized, but it decreases the amount of medals the TO's have to award, so if getting extra medals does increase the number of tournaments, overall workload for TO's doing the awarding, is still less.

A big reason is that after 30, Roman Numerals won't fit on the medal.

That's why I suggested Bronze, Silver, and Gold medals.

Even if you award it at the TDs' discretion.

no, people (including me) like to play in quick, small tourneys, plus if you up the requirements then people will just barely meet the new min. requirements, you can't up the requirements (and keep more than a couple of tourneys running) enough to get rid of this problem.

The tourney medals are ok, the only thing I would change is MAYBE give people one trophy for every 3 or 5 tourneys after they reach the 30 mark just to recognize people who run a ton of tourneys

How about - 30 Tournament Medals, then a Special Recognition or Contribution medal for running say a total of 60, then 100, and then 150.

Something like that.

I agree. If you spend enough time and energy into this site to create 30 tournys, you deserve something. Even if after 3, you wont get a medal until 35, then 45, then 60, etc, there should still be some recognition.. Just my opinion.
I would still run tournys without getting any medals, but there are some people that wont... And after 30 tournys, those players have probably gotten pretty good at running a tourny, but now they wont... Just my 2 cents

If people are only running tournaments for the medals, then they probably aren't worth having after 30 anyway.

I remember the good ol' days when tournaments were run and joined for the fun, not for the medals.

The great TO's who run all these tournaments (Blitz, HA, Bart, etc) will be the first to tell you they don't do it for the medals. So it sounds like they have plenty of motivation to keep going already.

Just to clarify, I run them for fun and for other people to enjoy. The medals are a bonus. Besides, I'm a long way off 30.
