Taking away weak player bonuses

Postby IronE.GLE on Tue Feb 27, 2007 8:50 pm

I've noticed in quite a few games that a lot of players are attacking weak players just to take away a bonus of 2 or 3 armies, while at the same time a stronger player is poised to take a territory with a much larger bonus. Is this a sign of collusion or is it just that the attacker doesn't want to draw attention from the stronger player?

In one game I am in, player B is one country away from holding a relatively small bonus territory. Rather than taking that one country, this player applied all his armies and burned them all up taking one country from me, keeping me from getting a bonus of 3 armies on the next turn. Immediately following his turn, player C took over the territory with the largest bonus. Had I been able to get the extra 3 armies for the following round, I could have taken that huge bonus away from player C, albeit temporarily. Did player B not see player C's obvious next move, or did he just not care?

Do players that take away your bonus rather than gaining a bonus for themselves think that this trade off is going to end short of one of you being taken off the board?

Yes I'm venting a little. I just find it frustrating that some players (even higher ranked ones) need someone to spell out: A-T-T-A-C-K B-L-U-E B-E-C-A-U-S-E H-E H-A-S F-I-F-T-Y P-E-R-C-E-N-T O-F T-H-E A-R-M-I-E-S O-N T-H-E B-O-A-R-D!

Your thoughts?

they do it because losing to higher ranked player loses you less points.

Oh, the Jamie suicide against lower ranked players approach! If they are concerned that much about points, then why not just shoot themselves in the face with a .12 gauge shotgun loaded with slugs?

Points  I just want to win. Points don't even come into the equation.

Browsing the site, I see some people (1 in particular) that likes to cheat..... errr..... manipulate the scoring system to gain points  All I have to say about that is: Get. A. Life.
