While we are on Luke this is what he says Peter says. (Acts 2:30-35) "But he" (speaking about King David see verse 29) "was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne. Seeing what was ahead, he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to the grave, nor did his body see decay. God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact."
Or Acts 3:18, 24 “But this is how God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets, saying that his Christ would suffer.” And “ ‘Indeed, all the prophets from Samuel on, as many as have spoken, have foretold these days…’ “Luke also writes “The people of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize Jesus, yet in condemning him they fulfilled the words of the prophets that are read every Sabbath.” (Acts 13:27)
Now we move from Luke to John’s testimony. This is what he tells us Philip said to Nathanael. “ ‘We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote-Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.’ “(John 1:45) In John 12:37-40 John quotes from scripture (they only had the OT at this point in history the disciples had not written the NT when these historical events were happening.) telling us the words of Isaiah the prophet then he tells us in verse 41 why he wrote them. “Isaiah said this because he saw Jesus’ glory and spoke about him.” John also records for us what Jesus says “ “You diligently study the scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life.’ “(John 5:39)
But still the scripture says more the author of Hebrews (My belief is Paul, but that is surround by much debate.) tells about Moses, “He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of in for a short time. He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward.” (Hebrews 11:13, 25, 26.
Still we have more, Peter has testified in 2 Peter 1:19-21, that “we have the word of the prophets made more certain, ... “and “Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” Peter also says this “Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit in them was pointing when he predicted the suffering of Christ and the glories that would follow.”
This is all just NT passages. What about the sacrifices and the law and the Passover in Egypt or even the rock that followed the Israelites in the desert (Exodus 17:6; Numbers 20:2-12; 1 Corinthians 10:4.) or the sign of Jonah. The OT is filled with Christ.
The scripture make it clear that Christ is the focus of scripture and the redemption of man. He is in both testaments old and new. Because we do not see his name does not mean He is not present. He is, He was and He always is. So let us make our lives the same all about Christ Jesus.
ALL PRAISE TO JESUS CHRIST THE GOD MAN.
I tried not to write a box or to so I shortened it considerably. It the preacher in me.)
