We need something to invest in that has potentially huge rewards, but might also cause you to lose your investment through no fault of your own if someone else fucks up to create an analogy to the Assassin games.

Any ideas?

Investing in Enron is the Sin games. It is chancey. because there is the ability for high rewards if you get lucky, but someone can skrew you and you lose all your money. =)

I think this is a solid illistration we have going. Someone add to it, and I will give you a cookie!

I agree this is going to be a fun new way to play.
The best gets a ton of money from the little guys and has fun skewing them over.
As for a cookie, Do you have chocolate chip? :P

As for the Rating system it is fine just do what they said earlier and take advantage of the system and don't complain. Teem play has always been important and will always be the best way to play. Here's a hint...Make some friends... smart teamwork goes a long way.

why are you concerned about rank... it honestly doesn't mean much. I prefer triples because it's next to impossible to make a public game and have everyone who joins know how to play.

I also don't like to communicate with the people I am playing against because I like to keep the mind set of kiss my ass and die and that will get me into trouble if I start talking

I make a good percentage of my games public and let anyone join because I know if they're messing up or suck I can help guide them and help keep a good game going.

Every single time I make a standard game I either get 1 deadbeat, 2 deadbeats, 3 deadbeats, an alliance by the second or third round against the strongest player, a bunch of idiots who don't challange anyone for their continent, or some idiot suiciding on another player. plus the whole multi thing can really screw a game up...

triples are more balalnced because I make the game, walk away let it fill up and both teams have the same advantage it's about who works better together not who the #1 player on the board is so for me that's more fun.

An added bonus is that in a triples game if a multi does join then at least you have other people there to take them down easily. I myself love public doubles. there may be idiots that play but as for them i can always just sit back and relax knowing that their not on my team. Then block them if their idiocy continues. I've never had to block anyone before though. I kinda wonder what it feels like. By the way CrazingCattle where is my cookie

I forgot that you can also make big gains in Assassin games if someone else messes up. hmm... any economic scientists around?

there is nothing unfair about the scoring system...it is open to all, and all that want a high rank, can play whatever games they want to get that rank....

further...there are generals that only play 5 player....only play triples, and only play doubles for the most part, and juventino actually got a good amount of his points from 3 player...but had a win ratio that would embarrass most

in other words...if you specialize in any of these you can make it to the top

so complaining what people play is just out of jealousy, because if you want the rank...its right there waiting for you...

Now, if you ask me if the scoring system completely narrows down the best player, ill say no. It points out who has the most points. The only true test of the actual best player is to put all of the top players in all types of games, and play many of them each...that will give the most accurate test of playing ability on a level playing field...

If you have one top player thats a genius at triples...one at 6 player, and one at doubles...without them playing all of those games together, and many of them to discount luck...there is no way to really say who's the best...

also, some players just like certain games...so they play them. I went for points at one point so i played all doubles...but i wasnt having any fun, so i mixed it up, and lost 400 points.....i cant blame the point system for that...if i wanted the points...id have kept playing doubles. Also...if i won just 5 of the 100 5 and 6 player games i played....id have the same score...so whose to blame....me....not the system

i do admit, that the scoring system could and probably should be more refined if you truly want to gauge your skill against another player...if you are only playing for rank, you are limiting who you get to play and to some degree the types of games you are playing...so you pay a price...Im sure blitz would love to open up a few singles games and have some fun, but at his score, there is no one good enough to do so and not lose points, it just isnt mathematically possible, so in that way the scoring system, does change how we have to play

and there is one sure fire way to gain points, that no one has really exploited to the top....its triples freestyle....if you combine the advantage of team play, with the advantage of synchronizing your turn, and the advantage of waiting till the end of the turn, and keep a player with a low rank playing in the team at all times...there is almost no more clear way to gain points...you will accumulate some negative feedback along the way, but if you really want to gain points with minimal risk, thats the way to do it...but, you are still going to have to play well, because once you gain over 2500 points...your challengers will become more formidable...

as far as solutions...i would love to see an area games could be made without points....to allow any and all to just play whomever and whatever games they want for fun....win or lose...no effect

also, a way to minimize the advantage of waiting till the last turn in freestyle games

and also if not a change in the scoring system...an addon to show other stats such as singles games scores, team game scores...etc....whether or not it could be integrated into the current scoring system is tough to say

all of these have been suggested at one time, and andy has eluded to the possibility that some or many will be addressed in future updates...so in short...: ) bitching about the scoring system is just pointless...crying about someone elses score is just silly, and if you cant offer a seamless way to fix it, nothing positive will come from it...so...to those who want a better score....play games that you are good at and get more points....to those that want to play every type of game and player...play and dont worry about your rank...and to those that have some ideas on changes to be made...suggest away, but dont cry about it...because unless your looking for your bottle...it will do no good

The current scoring system is biased towards team games, some people would like that bias removed.

look this has been raised a thousand times (over 900 of those times were by dug) and each time it has been agreed that yes team games is how to get ur score high although its a game of fun. if people get pleasure from reaching a high rank then let them. i personally don't play that many team games. when i do it will be with people i know and like. i sometimes play public team games with a mate on my team and i sometimes play private team games against my mates for fun.

i'm a respectable 2200 in my score and was 2400 before i went on my current losing streak. i play for fun not for points. just let people who want to play for points play that way. if it matters to them then let them.

Kugelblitz22 we know some people want the scoring system changed. Standing there chanting "change the scoring system" doesn't do a thing. Come up with a suggestion that the powers that be like, thats the part you don't seem to be trying to address. Come up with a system that is fair to all that is my challange to you.

I think if you are a good player you will get your points no matter what type of game you play.

I hear what you are saying. But I think the reason we are stuck with the system we have is because that is what has happened in the past. People have come up with individual ideas, that get shot down. I don't claim to have all the answers. Lets open up a subforum dedicated to solving the scoreboard issue. Work up a dozen different solid ideas and vote on them. Right now I am trying to engage in the consciousness raising portion of the rebellion.

I think another part of the reason we have the current scoring system is because we have fallen into a self-fulfilling prophecy. The members we think are the most important are the ones with high scores. The members with high scores think the current scoring system is great. Am I on to something?

I don't think the advantage is team games are easier to win, its that team games have a tendency to be shorter games. So you play a lot more in the same amount of time.
