What are your favorite maps?

Postby Gillipig on Thu Feb 11, 2010 2:08 pm

Here's my top 10 :P !
1: I'm very fond of Imperium Romanum http://maps.conquerclub.com/Imperium_Romanum.L.jpg but I agree with those who say it's not very advanced, but if you add fog of war to the mix it'll be a lot more difficult!!
2: Third Crusade http://maps.conquerclub.com/Third_Crusade2.L.jpg, there are so many small bonuses to aim for and it really allows players to set up different tactics.
3: Supermax Prison Riot http://maps.conquerclub.com/Supermax__Prison_Riot!.L.jpg one of the bigger maps who I just love!!
4: Eastern Hemisphere http://maps.conquerclub.com/Eastern_Hemisphere.L.jpg, one of the best maps to play fog of war on if you ask me!
5: World 2.1 http://maps.conquerclub.com/World_2_1.L.jpg, it's just a bigger and better version of the good old classic risk board!
6: Jamaica http://maps.conquerclub.com/Jamaica3.L.jpg, don't shoot me in the head already :), also a map with a lot of small bonuses and quite an original theme.
I don't bother to motivate the rest I just simply digg them!
7: Eastern Front http://maps.conquerclub.com/WWII_Eastern_Front.L.jpg
8: Europa http://maps.conquerclub.com/Europa.L.jpg
9: American Civil War http://maps.conquerclub.com/American_Civil_War.L.jpg
10: 8 Thoughts http://maps.conquerclub.com/8_Thoughts.L.jpg

If anyone else have a favorite map or list of maps (I know you do ;) ) please post them and a little explanation to why it's a favorite.

I am a big fan of Feudal War, although, I haven't been able to try Feudal Epic yet... I'm excited to give it a chance! ;)

I've found that when I have time to play a map several times and learn it, that most are fun. Having say that, I think you wanted a list.

1. France
2. ACW
3. Iraq
4. Waterloo (learning this one now)
5. classic
6. Alex empire
7. Space
8. Ardennes
9. Category 2 maps usually fun although I haven't played them in a while. Fuedal, new worlds, imperium, pelo wars.
10. I like castle lands, again haven't played it much lately.
11. Poland
12. Sydney metro
13. Classic.

Sydney and ardennes are probably higher, I was writing them as I thought of them.

Have barely played Feudal war, what's the difference between the normal one and the "epic"?

One of them caught my attention and that's Battle for Iraq http://maps.conquerclub.com/Battle_For_Iraq!.L.jpg, What's up with that map? I've never played on it but I just think it looks boring and too complicated :-s ! (And that's coming from someone who generally like the rail maps even though they didn't make my top 10.)

Difference is mostly this. Take fuedal, make it have 8 castles for quads and 8 player games, and you have fuedal epic. Things are in different places of course, but its basically an 8 player fuedal map.

As for iraq, how can something be complicated and boring at the same time. It's one that takes time to learn, very much original game play. Try it some time, but wait till you are ready to commit 5 to 10 games to it. Or have someone teach you, like I did.

You're right in the sense that if you play a map enough times you'll learn it, but It's just that I looked at the map for 10 minutes without actually getting ANYTHING and that's why I thought it looked both complicated and boring.

it is complicated. The first thing is to understand all those little loyalties in the top right.

To balance this thread I'll name a few maps I don't like:

Supermax. Too crowded, complicated and gives me a headache. Maybe it takes a few games to really get the map but the map just doesn't attract me that much.

Crossword. Confusing, the borders are way too hard to grasp. I like a map I can visualize in my head somehow. A graphical revamp could do a lot for this map.

All the AoR maps. Don't know why, I'm just no good at them... never had a fun game on any of them.

Germany has always been on my list...

USA Map Pack is something relatively new that I've been getting into...

Berlin I've always liked...

Haiti as well...

And British Isles...though I haven't played it in ages.
