New Layout Blows for everyone! Especially the scriptless.

Postby Queen_Herpes on Fri Jan 01, 2010 7:18 pm

The new layout blows for non-script users.

For players without scripts, it means endless scrolling up and down, effectively eliminating freestyle as a game option.

Move everything back to the side and to the bottom of the map/below the map. Having everything on the top of the map requires everyone (possibly only non-scripters) to scroll up to the top to refresh the map. The refresh map button, if nothing else, should be on the side of the map.

Not sure if this affects others, but the size of my screen from top-to-bottom means I have to scroll to get the game information that was formerly on the bottom of the map/below the map.

PUT EVERYTHING BACK WHERE IT WAS!!!!

I can only imagine that this layout was devised and approved by people who don't have wide screens. Unfortunately, practically no one has a "tall" screen and the new layout couldn't possibly benefit everyone. I've had to scroll in all of my games and it is INCREDIBLY annoying.

I've played another game now where I had to scroll up and down thanks to the new layout. Please change everything back to a "side of the map" situation and move the rest of the info back to below the map!!!!! There is not point to having it at the top of the map!!!

Go to Game Settings. Enable Side Stats. Easy as pie.

Already did that, you are an idiot.

I have to scroll to the top to see which spoils I have and scroll to the top to refresh.

Enabling side stats doesn't move the refresh link though, unfortunately.

So I, too, have to constantly scroll up and down, because my laptop monitors generally aren't large enough to show the map + action bar + refresh link all at once.

Fortunately for me, I'm a script user and writer, so I can fix it. :) But it is pretty annoying.

Hooray for script users. This is ridiculous. Change it back.

Wow, got some issues there? I hope you're not this assholish to everyone to tries to help you. More to the point, I don't think demanding things IN ALL CAPS is the best way of stating your case. Then again, I imagine you're getting used to people in positions of authority ignoring you, so I understand why you're throwing a temper tantrum.

In short, good luck in your future endeavors, and I hope you can one day learn to treat complete strangers with some goddamn common courtesy.

You offered a suggestion that didn't solve the problem in an effort to simply increase your post count.

Ultimately, the problem here is that players without the ability to use scripts are incapable of playing the game without endless scrolling. This prevents players without scripts from reasonably being able to play freestyle games, and inhibits the ability to play a speed game tremendously.

We won't, because CC was built for a few friends of lackattack and they keep making decisions that benefit that small group of programmers.

I have issues at times with CC decisions, and I don't care for the new layout because it causes more scrollup/scrolldown and you can't easily see your cards, but Lack has been pretty clear that he's experimenting with the new stats layouts to figure out what's best; so far, I haven't seen him announce, "Okay, guys, this is the final version." Plus, as I mentioned in a similar thread to this, this version did, at least, minimize the lag the original "new stats" had been causing some of us.

If this is true, then lack should have an alternate site with a tinyurl address that is used as an experimental site where he can "experiment." If he's worth his salt, he shouldn't use the main site for experiments and tests and should instead try things out elsewhere or respond much, much faster tot he many users who have posted in various threads about the failures of the new layout.

But, hey, lets spend a bunch of time on the anniversary parties! Because they are way more important than user functionality.

Wow - you just accused Inca of being a post whore... the irony.

If you want to refresh the screen - try pressing F5... (it's not quite ideal as it does more work than the refresh map link)

Postby K-dub on Fri Jan 08, 2010 12:19 pm

theoriginal post in this topic is right...the layout completely ruins freestyle games, and they say that u never change cards in the middle of a turn, what about if i eliminate someone and get their cards? i have to waste time just to scroll and see them... and in a freestyle where many people could be taking turns, you might need a quick elimination to get a midcash, and if its a 6-8 player single escalating, that could simply cost someone a game, that extra 5 seconds, someone could get eliminated

please make it an OPTION to have the settings at the top or bottom...you can make it an option in the control panal...its that simple

The thing that is wrong with the layout is the position of the cards - er - spoils...

The refresh button could move too (or add a shortcut) - the rest is OK at the top though?
