Eliminated Player's Status Icon color change suggestion

Postby kirincat on Wed Dec 23, 2009 9:29 pm

In the 'My Games' list and in the actual game the list of players in the game have an icon (green dot and red box) in front of their name which is used to show each player's status. The red box icon is used for all players except the one that is "ready to play" (or actively playing). This red box icon is used with the same meaning even if the player has been eliminated from the game. On a quick glance there always appear to be a full list of players, but to truly determine what a player's actual status is you have to mentally eliminate the players without names, this is easy to miss since each name has an underline and eliminated players have an underline and a lines out name.... there are a bunch of lines to mentally filter out. If the status icon of the eliminated players were grey (and perhaps a different shape) instead of red the actual player status would be easier to determine. As a result of adding a grey icon the green and red icons would have more significance since those are really the only players left to plan against :)

Not a bad idea. Perhaps a grey skull (and crossbones?) in order to drive home the idea that this player is OUT.

Perhaps an x for eliminated and a tick for victorious?

Could I then get rid of the strokethou on the username for eliminated players or people will want both?

Both would be a good idea. People tend to like options. :) thus having both keeps everybody happy.

I think graying them out is sufficient and strike-out is bad for look (css). So icon and special color would be enough, I am sure.

I'd rather have the name still have a line through it, no mater what you change with the symbols.

Could graying them out confuse you with a gray colored player in 8 player games?

Maybe black out? Or as others suggested some sort of death icon?

Judging the response we usually get around here to changes, I think you had better keep the strikeout along with any other change you make. This place is full of reactionaries.
