Middle East...in the Future!

Postby unriggable on Thu Feb 15, 2007 4:14 pm

So I was watching this recording of '2057' (didn't watch too much of it). But it occured to me that the world is zoning in on the oil, and 90% of it is in the Mideast. So the world will fight over the mideast like this. If you do not want to read this, you don't have to, it's just I don't have a map, only idea in my head.

In 2040, we will have depleted almost all known oil refineries outside the mideast. This is when countries start to pour in and take advantage of the unrest there. Around 2055, The United States goes through a revolution. As atheism began to conquer the north, Christianity was only swelling in the south. The President declared marshall law on New York City. The Riots throughout the country were beyond belief. Five years later, the country tore itself to pieces. However, many of the money left in the Government was put to good use in colonizing what would be known as 'Greater Mesopotamia'. However the Muslims quickly took over and from Greater Mesopotamia they created the Sunni States.

Meanwhile China had problem of it's own. The Communist Party was waning, and many were ready to revolt. Around 2015 (yes that soon) the country went into a revolution that lasted ten years. It ended with the East Coast declaring itself a Republic (The Republic of China) and the mainland keeping the Communist code (Tibecia). Tibecia crumbled, as the Russian military, the Mongols, and other countries attacked and took over much of the territory. Tibecia eventually united with Kazakhstan and several other Ex-Soviet contries near te Caspian sea. Tibecia became known as Caspasia.

Other changes include:
Dubai rises to power but quickly splits in two
Kurdistan becomes it's own country
Egypt almost disappears, replaced by Northern Somalia
Armenia retakes parts of Turkey, but old armenia secedes and becomes known as Caucasia.

What do you guys think?[/code]

Good Thinking

Postby wrightfan123 on Thu Feb 15, 2007 4:41 pm

So basically it'd be a 'World Apocolyes'? I was actually thinking about the year 3000 ther other day, where India breaks off and Atlantis comes out of the ground. But this sounds good too. Go for it!

I made it up - most of it n the spot. I made a map yesterday with the names of some regions but just now made up a storyline

You should consider making an alternate Wolrd 2.0 where the inevitable oill-crisis and global warming are accounted for.
Try removing lowland areas such as Bangladesh, Holland, Oceania and Florida as well.

I'll probably look at the possibility of a Persian return.

Not very high - the story goes that Dubai *buys* Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman, and with this new land is able to develop more - it designates "off limits" zones to test new machinery, specifically the larger generation of H-Bombs. Over time the city itself floods - Dubai splits in two for wealth reasons, however they remain close allies.

I think a lot of your theories are very flawed....

The storyline isn't too interesting at the moment, I think you should rethink it, maybe put it later in time and including a world war (china, north korea, iran, iraq, a lot of other middle eastern and african countries vs. Japan, russia, europe, USA, australia and south africa)

then have the map as either that war or the aftermath of it...

The story is very WIP, but that isn't what matters so I don't fret about it too much. If you guys can look at the skeleton of the map (as that is all that matters) and rate it that would be great - I'm also thinking about adding my 'capitals' idea instead of continents as I hate when people just follow the example of pre-made continents (this is the rebuilding of the Mideast, really).

Hmmm... well, if you want to keep the story line for the map, try replacing “refinery” (which is the process plant where crude oil is, well refined, into petroleum products) with “reserves” (which is discovered, economically recoverable crude oil).

Otherwise, dunno. There already is a Middle East map that is quite al right. And for a fantasy map to catch on, I think one needs a well-known story (cf. the great and reasonably popular Middle Earth map with the rather obscure Tamriel map).

Right...capitals are essentially refineries. I put the skeleton of the map up to see where the capitals would be placed best - I know one is being placed in East Dubai, maybe another in Kurdica, I don't know.

If this doesn't work out, I'm going to start a World 3.0 Map, where California, Baja California, and Alaska go to hang with Hawaii, becoming The Republic of Los Angeles, India will break of and immediatly erupt into Civil War, World War III will completely destroy Austraila as we know it, and David Beckham will be President of America. I'll start a post soon.

UPDATE! I simplified the map, so now I don't have to work with Google Maps anymore. Kickass!

rename palestinea to something involving israel. this would be the only non muslim country there and could perhaps include a bonus. since it is associated with the west could you not make it part of greater mesopatania?
