Turkey invading Iraq?

The Khurds want, have wanted independence since the Ottomans. They were not given a land, it was split up. Turkey claims part. Iraq part, etc. Khurds in Turkey claim they are oppressed. Saddam Husein launched chemical attacks against some when they allied with the US. Turkey lables the seperatist group terrorist, I believe with US support under Bush, though I believe that is debateable.

Nothing really new.

Well there you go, Forbes magazine fearmongering us. Three years and no great big war, guess they went the, "Quick distraction/threats of war so we wouldn't watch them crash the economy in plain view.

If anyone's interested in real information about this I lived in Dohuk, Iraq for 6 months in 2007, and now live in Istanbul. Feel free to ask any questions.

This article is pure fear. Turkey has been attacking Iraq for at least 2 years (partly why we left). Turkey's been attacking Turkey for a lot longer than that after the Kurds. Most Kurdish people hate Ocalan and the PKK but he was the one person who stood for their freedom, so they went along with it. If you oppress people for long enough they get pissed off and virtually no-one's been more oppressed than the Kurds.

Thanks Xelabale, I can't think of anything off hand but I am certainly interested in asking ignorant questions in the hopes of reducing my ignorance. I'll hit you up next week or something.

Which makes me think: if we can create a synthetic lubricant for engine parts, what is stopping us from creating a synthetic gasoline (other than Big Oil)?

That's the funny thing. We've already figured out how to synthetically produce oil, in several ways. I remember one that has a bacteria that eats garbage and poops oil.

Big Oil can't keep people from thinking, but it sure can stifle them.
