Shadowlands / Big Map (Gameplay Discussion Only)

Postby RjBeals on Mon Jul 13, 2009 3:26 pm

Map Name: ???? (Formerly Shadowlands / Big Map)
Map Region: Fictional
Territories: 96
Bonus Regions: 12
Gameplay: Classic

Description:
Map Idea Discussion Here.
I feel the site is lacking in classic gameplay, large geographal maps. I started the iron curtain, but didn't like how difficult is was getting, in regards to keeping accurate borders. This will be a fictional land. I want to focus on gameplay first. Once that is ironed out, I will create the graphics for the map.

I know there's not much commenting when it comes to gameplay, but if you don't mind, let me know if you think this looks okay. I've had a lot of positive feedback from the Charleston map - lots of small bonus areas, classic gameplay. This will be similar, just on a larger scale. Charleston has 60 territories.

Thanks.

The impassible below the light green boarder should end before the last one, so there is an extra boarder and it isn't so linear.
The bottom teritoriy of the light blue region could have a connection to the one bottom island of the red region.

The territories seems pretty big, I wonder if you could fit more in than you have. This could have a lot more territories, I think. 88 isn't that big.

Will Do.

Was thinking about this, but didn't think it was necessary. But I'll create it, I don't think it will be that much of diffference.

I was considering smaller regions - but this is the large map don't forget. I was maybe going to go with 108 regions, and I still can - just let me know if you think it's needed.

Thanks captainwalrus for the feedback - just the type I'm looking for.

Yeah I gotta agree with him. That's one of the things that makes Charleston my favorite map — the way that everyone can grab a set of bonuses on their own "island." Looks like it'll be sweet though.

Will this all fit on the small map?

And I agree with the last poster. More bonus groups would be better.
Maybe break up the blue/green and one of the tan groups in the middle.

I concur. More smaller groups would be better, perhaps push it out ot 15 or 16 continents.

Maybe have smaller groups inside larger ones similar to World 2.1.

Ya I was looking at the older versions and it seemed like this one had the bonuses inside bonuses. I liked that.

108 terrritories would deffinently be better, and like 18 bonus regions.

This looks like a reverse Charleston.

[Moved]

It would appear that development of this map has stalled. If the mapmaker wants to continue with the map, then one of the Foundry Moderators will be able to help put the thread back into the Foundry system, after an update has been made. ;-)
