A Forum Map

Postby lozzini on Mon Oct 27, 2008 11:45 am

How about a visual representation of the forums with continents being all the major forums (including international and clan forums) and then in each of these sub-continents would be sub-forums. Each cont. could have a capital which adds +2 to the bonus, the capital being someone who posts a lot in the forum, or a mod.

i am not a map maker but i do think this idea could work, i hav no idea what it would look like but it would really bring the forums to a whole new level :D

lozz

EDIT: i did have a quick search of the forum to see if this has been suggested before but coulkdnt find it - please correct me if i am wrong :P

Similar to my "How a Map Progresses Through the Foundry" idea, though it could have more appeal I suppose.

i'm thinking it could be set out similar to the latout of the forum - i.e. announcements next to GD which is next to Tourneys

I like this idea, And the Global Mods and Admins could be able to bombard any territory but mods like Cartographers and Mods GD could jjust attack their area of the forum....

I think it would be cool. I could have a lot of game play features.

CC Forum

Postby the.killing.44 on Fri Jan 23, 2009 6:25 pm

I might bring this into a draft myself, but if someone else volunteers then I'll let them have a go at it first :)

Alright, the idea. Like I posted previously in the other thread (CC itself), I think there is an interesting map to be made out of the forum.

Why?
For one, people at CC (well most) love it here. And most come here to play games, which take place on maps, right? So why not combine everything into them playing a map on their very own CC?

It would be a CC-patriotic map, but, more importantly, address something that both mods and forum-active players talk about a fair amount — the lack of participation in the forums. Only about 1/4th of members, by my estimate, visit the forums. So, let's increase that number. That's the purpose of the passwords to the BRs, so why not take it even further and make a map out of the forums, which will probably lead more people in here.

So, what do you propose?
Alright, so I will try and explain the best I can. I'll try to post a rough rough draft if I can.

Each subforum (i.e. General Discussion, Foundry, etc.), and the subforums in it would be a bonus in itself. Flame Wars, since it has no subforums, would only be a +1 bonus. Holding all the international forums would be its own bonus, but that could not have any other bonus seeing how there are no subforums in any of those.

Mods (listed as their group — like "Cartographers"; global mods would be present everywhere) would be the way to attack out of a forum (like the Foundry or Flame Wars). They could attack any other mod. However, none of this includes lack. He is a turtle placed at the top of everything, able to bombard any mod or subforum (be it a large one or one inside any subforum).

With a horizontal family tree-like layout which places lack all the way to the left (a symbol to indicate where he can bombard — I like a turtle shell :D ), the forums to the immediate right (and the mod groups under each forum they mod), and the subforums branching out from the larger subforums, and so on and so forth, I think this could be both cool and productive.

interesting idea. however, the number that visits the forums is estimated at anywhere from 1%-3% of overall CC members, that is far from 1/4... could be really funny given the nature of the constant retreaded topics like dice/assault cubes that go in the forums... the black jesus is tickled by this idea...-0

Believe it or not, suggested before. Thing is, it likely won't make for fun or interesting gameplay and graphics, so the likelihood of it getting made is pretty low.
