Hello schmoozeinc,

Feedback, if used properly, can be an excellent resource to gauge reputation. If abused, it quickly becomes useless. The feedback quoted below is inappropriate and has been deleted.

Feedback you left for professorkimball:
the professor is a cheating bastard. dont take my word check it out for your self in the forum

Reason for deletion: Foul language

If you think you can rectify the problem by editing this feedback, please do so from the Leave Feedback page and then reply to this message. I may restore the feedback if I feel it is appropriate.

Please be sure to follow the guidelines on the Leave Feedback page when leaving feedback. You should review all the feedback you have left to date and make sure that it meets the guidelines. If we find any more abusive or inappropriate feedback from you, we will do more than issue a warning.

Regards,
wicked

Im assuming it is the use of the word "bastard" that your having a problem with. while i dont agree that it is foul language it seems i have no choice but compitulate and offer a more sterile, less offensive version. so i submit this for your approval

as i stated i dont feel that the b word is foul. i fully understand that there are people of all ages on this site and i have children of my own. but, i dont use profanity in feedback, livechat, gamechat, or the forums. there is pleanty of verbal diahria the is used on this site. since i cant find any examples of foul language i must assume that it is arbitrary. could you clarify if any of these would be construde as foul?
"idiot" "loser" "assclown" or one of my favorite dugcarr quotes "you used tampon of a player"
as for my feedback i have left for people in the past, i have only left neg f/b for players who were busted for being multis or just plain poor players.
my intention was never to force this into the public spotlight but since it is i feel that your definition of foul is subjective.

use your common sense here! sheesh! I don't care if you post it in the NY Times, not changing my call.

and if you had not wanted public spotlight, you could've just responded to the PM privately, instead of posting in the forums. you drug it here, not me.

Oh, and you need to edit your original feedback, not just leave another.

Huh? I've seen "foul language" used here, but some of the letters if not the whole word were replaced with * instead. Are you saying that *'s are better than just typing it out? I mean, only a moron couldn't understand what 'foul' word was being used in the first place. :/

Bah, I need to read the rules again.

First off, it makes no sense for you to post this thread, instead of just talking to Wicked using the PM.

Second:

Interjection

bastard!

1. (vulgar) Exclamation of strong dismay or strong sense of being upset.

You argument holds no water here. It's a "vulgar" word, that is not allowed to be used in feedback. So this thread is pointless.

Schmooze, if bastard is an acceptable word for you, even though you refuse to write it in the forum, go ahead and teach it to your kids and ask them to use it at school. How long before a note gets sent home? If you're still unsure, go to wikipedia's page on profanity and get schooled.

what I dont get is how bastard is unacceptable in feedback, but certain user names are fine "dieyoubastards" "getraped624"
I think the consistency on this site leaves alot to be desired.

Teya, the feedback guidelines are the only place on here that specifically states "No foul language." If you don't like the language or the username of a player, you can add them to your ignore list.

First of all, what to delete and what to allow is left to wicked's discretion.

But since we're discussing what constitutes "foul language", I would have allowed "bastard". I've left even worse go without deletion.

I've try to draw the line based on what the average member could tolerate on their feedback page. Some sensitive members would surely be offended with "he's a bastard" on their feedback page, but I would think that most would be able to live with it. "he's a f*cking twat" would be a different story.

I do agree, that I dont find the word bastard, in my mind to be offensive. However, you did say:

Some sensitive members would surely be offended with "he's a bastard" on their feedback page

And since it is consider a "vulgar" word, if a member ask for it to be edited off their feedback, which is what I'm guessing happened here, then I think that it should be edited out.

So, you're saying we should factor in how sensitive is the person complaining?

I guess we kinda do that already, since we don't bother deleting feedback with no complaints... and I wouldn't be surprised to hear our friend professorkimball was giving wicked a headache
