Concise description:
  • Certain territories already give minor auto-deployed bonuses after being held for a round (i.e. the Airports on Berlin1961) but I've not seen a map where you get an instant, usable bonus that round for taking that territory, which could be used to maintain the momentum of your advance.
  • My suggestion is that if you hold a bonus card naming a certain territory, you get an instant bonus deployed there, for capturing that place. If you lose it and recapture it, you get the bonus every time.

Specifics:
  • If you hold the card and take the place, you get an instant bonus dependant on the colour of the bonus card (4 for Red, 6 for Green, 8 for Blue). If you feel that's too strong then halving it (2 R, 3 G, 4 B) also works (and would work better on smaller maps).
  • Cashing the card in still works in the normal way - however you might choose to save that card & leave the territory undefended, in order to attempt to recapture it and get the bonus all over again! It works the same for as long as you hold the card.

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • Gives players incentives to take randomly decided territories, based on the bonus cards they hold, increasing their tactical options. Enemies don't know what are your good territories until you take them.
  • Rewards more thoughtful players who bother to watch out for such things, then play to block an opponent.
  • Adds an extra dimension to all existing maps, another bonus layer on top of country bonus and total territories bonus.

Apparently....CC has it, so both people can hold the same card :roll: , so don't know if that would work :?:

I always like adding options to gameplay, and I think that this is one that would not hurt the overall gameplay. If Escalating Spoils don't hurt the game, this one certainly can't either.

A Few comments:
1) I think if you hold the card, you get the bonus. I think it should be flat rate, i.e. not dependent on color (similar to the 2 army bonus if you cash in a set while holding the territ)
2) If the game is escalating, then the bonus should escalate as well (doesn't make sense to get 2 armies when spoils are cashing in @ 50)
3) If the bonus is worth it, might make team play interesting. :)

I think it deserves consideration as an option.
