bombard :( really???? no reason. especially on a small map like the doodle idea suggests, and this seems to be so far. why does every map have a "add bombardment" suggestion somewhere in its thread?!? :|

I like Andy's idea - a bonus for crowns sounds good. Or maybe just a crown on EU Central which would justify the earlier auto-deploy idea. Or maybe EU central as the objective, with a big neutral army? Maybe worth keeping the 3 options open for now.

Does anyone know of the monarchies of Europe appropriate to the map? UK, Spain, Netherlands (EU Central), any more?

I'm glad you guys above persisted with the 'Doodle' discussion (despite my reluctance) - it has led in a good direction.

Bombardment is perhaps a step too far, worth considering though.

Group the bonuses by color. Add more fun symbols but make them more cartoony and more relevant.
Great Map!

I like this one. Really nice indeed. Please change the names in the map I love "Scandy-navy". And it would be nice if you add in the southern Iberian Peninsula "All-Garve" And Middle East could be... "Here stays Oil"

Cheers... About the gameplay I love it the way it is ;) Cheers!

Gameplay
Some interesting thoughts.

A compromise between them might be to add the crown for EU Central to start (with a bonus - auto-deploy or normal can be debated later). Further crowns could also be added later, and/or the EU Central objective idea looked at again (it could be an easy change - simply add more neutrals).

I think both several crowns and objective would be too complicated for this kind of map. However, one or the other might be possible. The objective would be simple enough and fit with the child's idea that europe could be ruled by a king in Brussels (its not as far fetched as father xmas).

Territory Names
I like Scandy Navy too - could be on the cards for a comeback.

And the Oil reference for the Middle East is good to - "The Land of Oil"/"The Oil Lands" - any better names welcomed.

Good question. I guess they would know if they asked where it came from.

Nice work... but why u choosed Ibiza and not other island (ibiza would be a good election if the child has 19-29 years, something i doubt...) i mean i would rather choose Majorca coz is the principal island or balearic... but if we see from a child of 5 years maybe he we'll know better something like Palma(capital of majorca) because is more know

Re: Ibiza

Good point again - it comes back to children's knowledge being selective - in this case where his mum went on holiday and the place related to lots of music CDs - a change to majorca might be a good idea though.

That's why i come to children's knowledge being selective, coz i doubt that his mother went on holiday to ibiza with his child, coz ibiza is famous to the youngers (people who ended the institute or there are on college) but for parents it will be more logical to take him to majorca, instead of the famous ibiza...

If you add monarchies, in whatever sense or what, instead of having the "theme" just be a some poor kid learning the territories of Europe, it becomes him learning a little bit of European History in regards to royalty and authority. :)

King / Kings Idea
Looks like the kingdom's fit loosely with the territories we already have (as well as UK, France, Spain, Netherands we could have crowns on the 'Alps' for the Austia-Hungarian Kingdom; crown on 'Easter Block' for the Tsarist Russia; although would the crown for the Ottoman Empire go on Turkey or Middle East?) The tricky issue here would be that we would historical accuracy and geographical inaccuracy which will raise questions and objections. Maybe it might inspire someone to a 18th/19th century Europe map? Certainly an idea to keep open and explore more.

Majorca / Ibiza
The question is, is the map about a child's selective knowledge (e.g. Ibiza) or what a parent would like a child to kmow (e.g. Majorca), or what a parent teaches a child? Either could be argued for, especially when you consider that there is a different, less travelled Ibiza. Similarly, the greek islands could be incorporated, or even the Italian Islands and/or Malta where there could be a North Africa link which is now more prevalent on tv.

Plenty to think about - what I would like to stick to is the 19 terits as I feel quick gameplay is suited to a Doodle-style map.

Monarchies
After quick research -there has been a monarchy pretty much everywhere on the map at some point in history.

UK, Scandy Navy, Spain, EU Central and Morocco are territories corresponding to current monarchies (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/47/Form_of_government_constitutional_monarchy.png/350px-Form_of_government_constitutional_monarchy.png). Nothing in the East to give 'crown' balance to the map. Tricky. I'm tempted to suggest just a crown on EU Central (unless the bonus areas are re-arranged with Scandy Navy in the East which might be a bit wierd- although there could be East, West, Central and Southern bonus areas).

Interesting to note that half of it is not even part of Europe.

It's actually doodle Europe+Middle East+North Africa!

Latest sketch below.

This one is crayon coloured.

Another update very soon with sea, more doodles, especially a crown, a straight mosque and a non e-ghost (now that I have a scanner). Looks like it'll be better to have the same shade for the whole bonus area.

I liked the camel in the desert, maybe you could pull out some other design if you don't like this one... maybe some sand dunes or something... so far I like the pale color better too!

Will be back riding my camel very soon, and hopefully I might be crowned ;)

The symbols have to go unless you can make a reason for them.
We need actual bonuses to move forward.
Also try and group regions by actual regions not by random coloring
Good Idea!
