Weather Conditions (Gameplay)

Postby max is gr8 on Fri Dec 19, 2008 12:29 pm

Concise description:
Weather Conditions
  • Rain - Harder to Make Movements, Chained Forts Only
  • Hail - Practically Impossible to Reinforce, Adjacent Forts Only
  • Snow - Makes Cold - Frostbite -1 Territ Bonus (on all territs)
  • Drought - Lack of Water means no Territory Bonus (including map bonuses (Continental Applies)), All Forts Allowed
  • Floods - No Forts Allowed
  • Perfect Conditions - + 1 Territ Bonus + No Fog
  • Sun - Standard Play, No changes to settings
  • Fog - Fog Enshrouds Battle Field, All Forts Allowed

Seasonal Weather Conditions - Each season lasts 3 turns (3 months)
  • Spring, the sun begins to shine (partial fog of war i.e. not advanced)
  • Summer, the sun is out and the sky is blue, (No Fog).
  • Autumn, fog begins to set in (basic fog)
  • December, Extended/Advanced Fog

Specifics:
  • Various Weather Systems Which are randomly generated at the beginning of each turn
  • Seasonal Affects which change Fog
  • For the weather type I imagine a check-list of ones may be used (on the create a game), they change however I have a table in google docs (Will publish if people like the idea) to show the probability of each transition with the most likely being Sun so despite a whole range of effects the one that happens most is sun.

This Idea Is ongoing and I expect various things should be added/changed

Seems like too much programming for a change that doesn't really need to happen.

Nifty idea; extremely time-consuming to code.

someone has been playing ultimate risk

though i do love the advancements, they also had things like rebel upriseing, if you only have 1 unit, a rebel could take it over at random(though rare)

Linky? I am intrigued.

The idea came from how in the tournament forum everyone refers to the fog setting as weather and sunny or foggy so I thought I'd extend it.

I knew it would be extensive to code but a lot of ideas are, if this gets given the stamp It'll probably be near the bottom but at least that means it will be approaching
