Flare button on map

Postby Namor on Wed Dec 17, 2008 8:15 pm

  • New to CC, so I’m not certain how any suggestion to change will be received. Love the site, wish I’d found it sooner. However I do see one area that could be improved.

I have, in a couple of games I’ve played, sent Diplomatic Proposals. But because I am a 100% full blown pessimist, I have felt the need to send a private message as well drawing their attention to the Chat Window. Just in case the intended recipient failed to scroll down far enough to spot it.

I suggest a Flare Button, when activated by the player, they then choose the colour of recipient and click the map, leaving a small flag that would be visible only to the two parties concerned. The recipient then, on loading the game map, has an obvious indication that there is a message intended for him. Needless to say he still has the option of ignoring the message and simply clicks the flag to remove it.

Sounds like a decent idea to me, i don't think it would hurt ny thing. I think you should be able to turn it off tho if u don't want it.

or just a simple "new game chat message" icon when you go into a game. then you can see the icon and know someone is talking.
It might not be someone making a deal with you, but it'd help just the same, especially for those of us that have tons of games and don't always scroll down to see the chat.

I know this does not help much, but chipv's script CC Turn Watch allows you to see if anyone has posted chat in any of your games. You would need your opponents to have this script installed and have that option selected for that to work, but if you install it, you will never miss a comment left by anyone else. (This is not one of the major features of the script, but it does come in handy.)

Exactly my point, not everyone does scroll down. This is a shame, since diplomacy is a huge factor in strategy and many proposals must go un-noticed.

Like that sexy winter map, by the way.
