Freestyle

Postby Begbie on Wed Dec 20, 2006 2:55 pm

i am in my 2nd freestyle game - like my first one I got into it by accident (thought is was seq)! I have some trouble with the format. Can someone give some basic advice as what the strat is for playing the style and also how best to manage your turns. Do you need to be online a lot more to actually take advnatage of the freestyle element? its a bit of a mystery at the moment. Cheers

I only keep 1 freestyle on my active list, cuz yer right, u need to be ready to play as soon as the last person of the round previous plays....it really IS dog eat dog in freestyle. Im sure more experienced players will fill u in on the best strategy........I just try to stop the bleedin' and enjoy the scrap! good luck eh.......

The more you are online the better, but there are a wide variety of strategies you can use.

One of the key points is trying to make sure you get the highest cash in possible. So if everyone has 5 cards at the start of a round, wait for a few others to cash before you do (unless you need to do it immediately).

Also, a common play is to attack many countries and try to gain a continent (or more) if you are the last player in a round. Then when someone else starts their turn you can start yours right away and receive the bonus for those places even if they were weakly held. That's where freestyle demands that you be on more often because if you try that strategy you have to watch for the next round to begin.

If its not a private game then you are not required to play it as an RT Its their fault for not password protecting it. And as far as Freestyle goes, it is who is on the most that wins but its always who plays when(waiting for a perfect time to take your turn) I have just about stopped playing all freestyle beause i cant afford to be on all day in defense of my points.

Freestyle is a great way for someone with a multi account to shit on you from a great height when the time is right. Avoid these games.
