How intentionally vague. "Very soon" has been preached for 2000 years. And 2000 years from now, they will still be saying "Very soon".

The END IS NEAR! DOOM! DOOM ON YOU!

lesnud wrote:So, if miracles were flying all around, and people had messages from God everyday, and people listened to those...He wouldn't be very unexpected then, would he?

And why not? Why ARENT there miracles every day, messages from god, etc. It seemed to be a pretty common occurence in the bible. Seems like magical stuff happened every week somewhere! Yet, if we are to believe these stories, it all just faded away for some reason. Why is that?

Evidently jesus is just a secret agent who must be stealthy. I mean WHY NOT announce your return to give us sinners a chance to repent? Isnt that the point? To save all the souls possible? WHY the trickery? WHY the subterfuge? Because it's all BS, thats why.

Still I am amazed at the stretches christians will go to, to explain away the obvious. There are no miracles, parted oceans, burning bushes today, etc because that would be too obvious huh? Unbelievable. Why cant you people just realize IT DIDNT HAPPEN. It's just a book of inspirational stories meant to guide you. And just as there was no wolf in grandmas house, these fables are just that as well. Fables.

hey Jay, is nostradomus or whatever his name a real prophet, because honestly what they are doing with his so called prophecies is what you do with your bible, or they did with the bible, they took events that had already happened and said "o this was prophicised early on, and this is how it fits in" and by waiting for jesus's second coming and not knowing when your doing it again...

Morph Nosto is NOT a prophet of God. Scripture states you can know who a prophet of God is by the accuracy of their predictions. They will be 100% correct in all their predictions.

Nostro has been wrong with many of his predictions, so he is not of God. The Bible however is 100% accurate in its predictions. And they are not self-fulfilling propecies as you presume. Do a google and see for yourself.

kclborat excellent post. It's true.

Why are there degrees of abomination? Why do "bible literalists" disregard much of the OT laws but not others?

Jay here is your question. I came up with it all by myself. Who decides that it's OK for you to ignore certain of Moses' laws and not others?

i.e. Genesis tells us god made the world in 6 days - so it MUST be true, despite the mountains of evidence that suggest otherwise. But Leviticus tells us we can't eat shellfish, allow anyone to covet our oxen or wear different types of fabric together, and that we can own slaves. So why are those laws ignored? It's all GOD's WORD, surely?

The answer is Jesus. Jesus came into the word and completed the law.

OT "eye for an eye"

NT "turn the other cheek"

The 6 day creation is not a law.

As for slavery (someone else brought up)

where did jesus reverse the two-fabrics law? and if he replaced every OT law then what is your problem with homosexuality? or adultery? Either they were all replaced, or just the eye-for-an-eye was. Make your pick.

The bible is best summed up by the song "We're All Going to Hell" by The Bastard Fairies.

Here's a sample.

All you Christian politicians, you are going to hell.
Magic Jesus apparitions send you to hell.
Bhuddist monks without god, you are going to hell.
Those of you dissecting frogs, you are going to hell.
[...]
All you Catholics wearing condoms, you are going to hell.
All us fatties eating bon bons, we're going to hell.
Unbaptized babies learn to limbo, Purgatory's hell.
And you're religion is a gamble, you are going to hell.

That's the way it seems that the modern protestant church makes it seem.

Bwahaha! Sorry jay. Unlike you I actually have a BRAIN in my head and do my own thinking...and questioning. You should try it sometime instead of being just another lemming. Nice try though! It does give you an easy out so you dont have to answer the tough questions doesnt it!

And religion in general is best summed up by "Jesus he knows me" by Genesis.

Genesis wrote:You see the face on the tv screen
Coming at you every sunday
See that face on the billboard
That man is me

On the cover of the magazine
Theres no question why Im smiling
You buy a piece of paradise
You buy a piece of me

Ill get you everything you wanted
Ill get you everything you need
Dont need to believe in hereafter
Just believe in me

Cos jesus he knows me
And he knows Im right
Ive been talking to jesus all my life
Oh yes he knows me
And he knows Im right
And hes been telling me
Everything is alright

I believe in the family
With my ever loving wife beside me
But she dont know about my girlfriend
Or the man I met last night

Do you believe in god
Cos thats what Im selling
And if you wanna get to heaven
Ill see you right

You wont even have to leave your house
Or get outta your chair
You dont even have to touch that dial
Cos Im everywhere

And jesus he knows me
And he knows Im right
Ive been talking to jesus all my life
Oh yes he knows me
And he knows Im right
Well hes been telling me
Everythings gonna be alright

Wont find me practising what Im preaching
Wont find me making no sacrifice
But I can get you a pocketful of miracles
If you promise to be good, try to be nice
God will take good care of you
Just do as I say, dont do as I do

Im counting my blessings,
Ive found true happiness
Cos Im getting richer, day by day
You can find me in the phone book,
Just call my toll free number
You can do it anyway you want
Just do it right away

Therell be no doubt in your mind
Youll believe everything Im saying
If you wanna get closer to him
Get on your knees and start paying

Cos jesus he knows me
And he knows Im right
Ive been talking to jesus all my life
Oh yes he knows me
And he knows Im right
Well hes been telling me
Everythings gonna be alright, alright

Titanium is an element, and so cannot be made. It is pretty common too.

I've got some Canadians for sale if you're still interested. It'll cost you though - people pay top dollar for Canadians around the holdiays. I'm not sure why but I think it's all that winter garb they're always wearing. Reminds people of Santa and gets them in the Christmas spirit.

It's true Jolly...Keep it quiet....but I tried to sell Lack off into slavery...

I lured him to the U.S. by leaving a trail of love notes and signed pictures penned by Wicked...

But after 150 miles into the U.S. ... and a 20,000 'love items' later...he decided something was fishy and fled back to Canada! Gah...

Wow...THATS's your prophecy? "Born in Bethlehem?" "Betrayed for Silver?". Kinda vague wouldnt you say? How about this...I am a prophet three times over. I prolaimed that my children would be born in New York and that I would win the weekly poker game. LO! IT IS TRUE!

Even so...prove the book was written before and not after these occurences. But you cant. STORIES.

Foudn a few biblical inconsitencies...

http://www.thenazareneway.com/new_testament_biblical_inconsistencies.htm

Yeah, its probably from an atheist leaning site, but a fact is a fact, wther it come from site A or site B.

With blatant contradictions, nothing can be considered true base don it being in the bible alone.

Ok, thats interesting and all, but they were all, as you put it, "self-fulfilling". In that, they were both predicted and fulfilled in the bible.

Do you have anything that isn't?
