Although I think this map is absolutely crazy, I can't wait to play on it. It looks so interesting and looks as if it will offer a completely different type of gameplay. As for those who complain - just don't play it :!: (Bty - have you even played it and given it a chance yet :?: ) :P [-X :-$

Oh and Kayla- The reason Classic Supremacy wasn't made was because its creators stopped working on it after one was found to be cheating.

However if people are complaining that World 2.0 was too similar to classic, I can't imagine the reaction a map like Classic Supremacy would recieve.

The best part of that thread in my opinion were the quotes of the people supporting the map, like this gem:

citydomain wrote:the arctic is antarctica its just abreveated

After it was suggested to add an arctic continent (they had the antarctic but no arctic).

Anyway, if you really love that map as much as you say, and you are willing to put the time and effort into creating it while following the suggestions/advice of the foundry (most of which would be 'differentiate it from Classic more") then by all means go ahead. However if the map has no one working on it, you cannot really expect it to magically be made.

ok, just for my clarification, to those of you who do not want the World 2.0 as well as certain other maps on the site? Why is it that you can not simply ignore them and never play a game using them? why do you feel it necessary to take it away from everyone? If a map is really unpopular it will never make it past the Final Forge, thus if a map is out there to play, it means people want to play it.

This map is really fun, and you need to micro manage a lot more. Its also doesn't have the boring phase where you attack one or two countries per turn to build up a continent. Its the fun phase, where you have a whole bunch of guys just much earlier on.

This map is unique. Many people do not like that. However, while the classic map is CLASSIC, there are other unique maps that we've made that many maybe don't like either... Crossword anyone? Circus Maximus no cards? I mean... cmon! (and how about USA APOC!)

I personally think this map would be better with more players, but perhaps its a step toward something better. Anyway, if you had to start a petition, you shoulda started it about the buncha maps we had that are all very similar. alexander's empire, middle east, ancient greece. However, each map has had a lot of work put into it, so I think they deserve to be put up. The CC folk don't agree to put on any blotch of slop to play for all

Excellent points by Zar.....the x-word map is a great example - I happen to LOVE that map and know many others too...but I believe it is the most hated! Space is my very favorite map, another that is generally disliked...the beauty of humanity - different strokes, eh? I say the more (well made) maps the better...

I have tried to make Shopping Mall and Hawaiian Isles maps and I suck at them..it is not easy.

My 2 cents

Postby dafranca on Thu Dec 07, 2006 11:20 am

I have found same bug on it:
- La Plata: Get extra bonus for holding 3 areas
- Amazon: Get extra bonus with 1 area missing

My two cents:

There is not much strategy in 6 players (I can't imagine it with less)... On the beginning you just receive too much army, you go for lots of places to attack (and you hope not to have bad dice, you just need luck in this game. You don't have time to slow anyone; if you try you are out of game, because very quick same one will be too strong.

I said before you need 8-9 players to do the map... now I think we need 10 players.

But it's not lost yet... perhaps this map should start different. My Suggestion:

1) Every body starts with only 1 army in all areas.
2) First turn you only deploy your army. You can not attack
3) Second turn you don't deploy army you only attack and fortify.

That change would balance the map and would be much better for strategy.

The map creator doesn't have any options to change the way the game works. He wouldn't be able to set it up so everyone starts with 1 army on each area, etc.

Not only that, but I think most people would be very against your suggestion even if it could work. I am personally loving my 3 games on this map and they each have 6 players. Yes, it has paved the way for 8 player games as well, and I will play those when they come.....but 6 player still works, its just different from the smaller maps.

Ten armies on Great Britain for using the word "Marmite" on the message board!

Personally, I love the board. And this site IS NOT a dictatorship. If you don't want to play World 2.0...then don't. No one forces you to click on JOIN GAME. We thank you for posting your OPINION here...now go get you F***ing shine box and play the Classic board with the rest of the 3rd graders.

Keep it with one minor change...

Postby boyer on Fri Dec 08, 2006 11:59 am

I think this is a great map due to the amount of options and strategies one has to consider. One Change though I would like to recommend. It would be easier to play if the legend of the map wasn't connected to the map but lower on the page, with the mobilization, attack and fortification options placed inbetween the world and the legend. In order to mobilize, attack or fortify, you have to scroll up and down on the page. This is a little inconvient as I have to keep scrolling back to make sure I've got the right countries that I wish to either mobilize armies, attack or fortify. This is just a convienience thing that would make the game easier to play, but overall I like the map.

Marmite, vegemite, bovril: all foul imho

For those who don't know what people are talking about I strongly suggest these links:

how much is inside Vegemite

And the reaction

how much is inside Vegemite

And more on topic. I think world map 2 is a very original concept. If you don't like it, just don't play it I;d say. [/url]

It wouldn't be possible to put the legend below the attack menu because the attack menu is not a part of the map....and the entire map is set to go above the attack menu in the way the game is designed.

I agree that its a problem though- now that the XML seems to be mostly fixed up, I think there are still 2 major problems-
1) A few unclear borders (korea, brunei etc) which zim said he will fix for version 2.1
2) The vertical size of the map that causes you to scroll. This is especially a problem for a map with this many countries, because you want to be able to see the map itself while looking at the drop down list (since its hard to remember that many places. I was a proponent of shifting Antartica up and the border above Greenland down during the forging process and I still think that it would be a good idea. I'm pretty sure if that was done I wouldn't have to scroll at all which would make gameplay much more enjoyable. However it makes the map more crowded and no one else seemed to like the idea, so I don't expect that problem to change.

I'm a noob on this place, but I have had some really good time on that map. 6 players, escalating and terminator- sure it took it's sweet time when we were up to 80-90 troops for turning in cards... but it was all fun even though I lost badly.
I think a map that has that many continents is great for 6 players... 3 players might be different though... but I haven't tried that yet.

this map is by far my favorite! there is so much strategy involved when playing on this map, it makes it so much fun to play. the indavidual bonuses for each area and the massive amounts of armies moving every turn make it more of a fast paced, extreme war.

i like it 100% (and its my new favorite)

Great Map

Postby fraggle on Fri Feb 16, 2007 11:07 pm

It's my current favorite. We all have different favorites. Just play a different map. I see plenty of people starting games on this map, so it is definitely more popular than many of the others.
