Petition to remove World 2.0

Postby Jamie on Mon Dec 04, 2006 12:02 pm

I am officially stating my opinion that the Map World 2.0 was ill concieved by its creator, and not thought out at all. I don't know how the map made it as far as actually getting on the maps to play list. This map takes forever to play. each turn can last 20 minutes or more. It will be many rounds before anyone can say who is leading the game. It's just not a fun map to play, bugs or no bugs. This site is about fun, and that map is not. I say get rid of it. Cast your vote, and tell all what you think.

Its my favorite map on the site, and i know alot of other people like it too. I like how the games are longer and that there are so many territories. If you don't like the map then don't play it, there is no need to take it off the site though. Thats just play dumb...

Your favorite map???

Postby Jamie on Mon Dec 04, 2006 12:22 pm

How could a map, that's been in use less than a week, be your favorite, and why?

Postby trestain on Mon Dec 04, 2006 12:25 pm

you can't get rid of something just because you don't like it.

i mean i hate marmite but i bet it will still be on the shelf next time i am in tesco's

if you don't like it don't play it. there you go sorted

i dont see how you can say that it was not thought out at all. If you look at the thread you can see that it was one of the most intensely discussed maps of any that has yet been created

I agree...I don't think anybody should be able to play it because you don't like certain aspects of it.

Feel free to start Jaime's non-Hasbro world domination site and include only the maps you like.

Marmite is a type of "thingy-type-crap-sauce" that weird english people put on toast/crackers. It's kinda related to yeast... as in isn't it a fungus?

Anyways, yea, crazy english people (Like my english boss who's watching me write this because I asked him what marmite was) like to use it... like I said they're crazy.

Marmite is a British savoury spread made from yeast extract, a by-product of beer brewing. It is a sticky, dark brown paste with a distinctive, powerful taste that polarises consumer opinion. This is reflected in the company's marketing slogan: you either "love it or hate it". It is similar to the Australasian Vegemite and Swiss Cenovis, and is suitable for vegetarians and vegans. There is also an Australasian version of "Marmite", although this uses a different recipe, is not sticky, and has a much stronger flavour that is not sweet.

you have to spread it thinly on toast, as its taste is very intense. I've not had any for ages.

i think it should be removed, within the next year there will be a lot more maps, and there is no reason to clutter it with worthless maps like this one, plus we already have a world map, and its actually playable

I like the map because it is so big. You get alot of men each turn, which in turn causes you to think more about where to stick all these men. I like how there are sub-continents and a bonus for holding continents. I like how there are many territories so its like there are many side games going on at once in different parts of the world. There is more strategy because there is more to do and to think about. Its my favorite map because of these reasons and i'm in about 15 games at this map already and they are some of the most enjoyable games i've been in.

So maybe you don't like it because its too confusing for you...

There is nothing worthless about the map. I am in 6 games using it - singles, doubles and triples and I have yet to encounter a problem. Is it daunting? Yes, but it isn't for everyone. There's a reason why the Indochina map was created ... it is just one step up from Lincoln Logs, Tiddlywinks and Hi-Ho Cherry-O.

Give the map a break, it works fine, but it isn't for the weak of heart.

You have all those maps of world 2.0 going, hmmmmm. Won't you be surprised then, when you find out that none of them can ever end, because some countries can't attack others, when they should be able to. Japan to taiwan for instance. Perhaps when the bugs are eliminated it might be better. Still, I don't see how a game played on this map will last less than a month at least.

I figure by the time it gets there, the XML will be fixed and people are still prone to make mistakes for whatever reason. I know there are a few issues, I haven't encountered them, but I don't see it as a valid, sane reason to flush the entire map. I think it is excellent work.

This is incredibly stereotypical of people resisting change. If you really don't like it don't play it, but personally I have a lot of funon it as well as most of the other maps. And take a look at the poll

To all those who dissent, I ask of you, where were you during the map creation in the Foundry? Did you voice your opinions, thoughts, and ideas? Or did you sit idly back, muttering and complaining to yourself?

Bottom line: Be vocal and active in map creation. That's what the Foundry is all about. Everyone can express their opinions, and those who don't, shouldn't complain, because the option is there.

As was stated earlier, this map surely won't be for all, but I think it is an interesting step into a new direction. And perhaps in our future updates, we'll have something that will improve the gameplay of this map and other similar ones.

My two bananas.
