Suggestion

Postby Keefie on Tue Jul 22, 2008 2:46 pm

Hi,

When a player is busted for being a multi, could it be possible for the passwords to be reset so that it's not possible for the multi accounts to log onto CC anymore ? That will stop honest players losing hard earned points to multi's in ongoing games.

This would probably go better in the suggestions forum. ;)

The problem with that, as I see it is in this hypothetical sernario:

A player with premium gets busted and blocked for multiple accounts. That player was in around 50 games when he was blocked. there were freeemiums in 30 of those games. All of those freemiums have to wait 3 days to win a game and be able to play in another one.

So paid up members have to lose points because you will have to wait a few days to continue playing for free.....

I have made this suggestion a numer of times. I find it disgusting that I can find a multi (because he's playing me) I get him busted but he is allowed to complete the game(s) and beat me because the site allows him too.

I do not play ANY public games other than singles for this reason. I got fed up with having to take on two people in the same game. Indeed I was days away from leaving, luckily I found xigames, gauld bless em!!! :)

This would go along way to fixing that problem. A better solution would be to impose an immediate deadbeat on those players who are the multi's.

Thats a whole lot better than the freemium losing points after being ganged up on by a bunch of multis.

ps: I've already posted this in the Cheating and abuse forum but someone said it should be here.

Then how would people be able to appeal incorrect accusations in an e-ticket if they couldn't even get on their account! bad idea unless some revision could be made

I moved the thread from C&A into Suggs & Bugs. Then I noticed that you had already created a similar thread in here, so I merged the two. Sorry if this is confusing.

If you are wrongly busted for being a multi, its usually because more than 1 person uses the same pc. So you get the other person to do it.

I think a lot of people have suggested this, myself included. The answer I got was that it would take 3 rounds for them to deadbeat. I suggested forced deadbeat as part of the multi removal process.

I would like to see some stats on the percentage of successful appeals to be honest. I should imagine that it is lower than 5%.

Allowing the guilty to continue to protect the rights of a very small minority seems like using a sldgehammer to crack a nut!!

Why not PM those who are found guilty of an offence PRIOR to implimenting the bust. Along the following lines.

Dear user

You have been found guilty of 'multiple accounts/secret alliance' with users xxxxx and yyyyyy.

The following actions will be taken if: 1/ You do not respond. 2/ Your appeal is rejected.

Account xxxxxx will lose premium and will have a score reset.
Account yyyyyyy will be deleted.
Account zzzzzzz will be blocked from playing with account xxxxxxx with both account having a score reset.

If you wish to appeal against this decision, please submit your appeal, via e-ticket within two days of this PM detailing the basis of your appeal.

The multi accounts can then be deadbeated with immediate effect once this process has been followed.

Accounts are never deleted, so drop option 2.

I don't really like the "wait three days while someone deadbeats" option, but I DO think something needs to happen.

Another thread suggested a "point reset". But, perhaps even more painful would be assuring that they lost all the games they have... sometimes that might be more of a point loss than just a reset.

How to do both?

What if the person were banned from logging in .. their profile reset or however. A notice would be automatically posted, then in all the games in which the player is active saying "XYZ was convicted of having multiple accounts and is no longer able to play".

THEN, what if the profile could be automatically programmed to take their turn as soon as they can .... and let the time run out. Ideally, the turn could be automatically shortened, so that the opponents won't have to wait even the hour it takes for the normal turn to expire.

If the "auto turn" and "auto time-out" are not feasible programming-wise (though I think this feature could be tied to a multi bust ... and once the multi bust program is activated, the program would seek out all the games with this player and then implement this).

There would have to be a chance for appeal before something so draconian were implemented.

Team games where a team mate is not one of the multis, might need to be dealt with in a different manner. Perhaps those games, far fewer in number, could be just automatically deleted?

Or perhaps the teammate could get their reinforcements, (take more than one turn) but the territories would just stay as they are. (that is, they would get normal reinforcements for their own turn, then would get reinforcements based upon the busted teammate's territories for the the busted teammate's turn ... the remaining teammate(s) could deploy on any of the team territories, just as usual, but the busted teammate could not attack. those reinforcements would quickly shrink as the busted teammate gets conquered) This would not be the same as having an active teammate, but it would not be as bad as having admin force a deadbeat on the team (perhaps even more than one?).

OR, those games could be subject to the same rules ... just chaulked up to "don't team with a multis"
