Allow negatives again....

Postby Gutshots on Tue Jul 15, 2008 6:57 pm

Please go back to a limited feedback system for the sake of honest players....

BUT....!
... since MANY player obviously abuse the feedback system to the point that it is disruptive to site administrators who often have to referee such careless uses, limit every player to ONE (1) negative per 30 day cycle and as many positives as one wishes to leave.

In support of my suggestion:

I. If players were permitted to leave ONE negative then the weight of said negative would help self police obvious abuses.

II. As much as we all want every player to play with ethics, we all know there are players that find a way to cheat and to an honest player, this is a huge turn-off.

III. Limiting players to ONE negative per 30 day cycle would avoid abuse of the feedback system while promoting fair play.

IV. I am currently involved in a game with Chris Columbus who has blatantly cheated and as such found a flaw and is exploiting it and his history shows he is a repeat offender. I will not proffer how he/she is cheating for fear of teaching other potential cheaters to use the same method. I have no recourse and no way to warn other honest players....

V. My experience so far has been that the majority of mal intended abuses usually come from NON PAYING members leaving a vary UNFAIR result against PAYING customers who respect the site (and many non-payers who do as well)... that being said, it also leaves paying customers (and all who respect ethics) with an unfair duty of having to take extra care in watching the games they enter and who might enter after them...

VI. The new rating system does little to deter malicious players from abusing this site and its standards.

I actually think worrying about negatives was a bit of a mistake. You could generally tell when a neg is real or isn't... and when they aren't they speak VOLUMES about the person leaving the neg, which is actually pretty good information.

However, if you visit Lack's thread asking for comments on the system and suggestions, he says that unmoderated feedback is unlikely to happen.

Gutshots, if you believe Chris Columbus is cheating you should report it in Cheating & Abuse Reports. Since your only game with him is a 1v1 ... I'm not sure how it is possible to cheat, but as I say Cheating & Abuse Reports is the place for it.

Crap suggestion - why limit a negative but not positives. There was no fishing for positives either with the old feedback system rules. Inflate the positive/negative ratio even more why don't you.

Pffft YES donkey... I think playing too fast is cheating.... Actually the opposite was true, he was playing slow... thats not my point either.... Play him yourself in a freestyle "as he sucks you into a RT match and out of courtesy you comply" and see what happens. Again, not my point. I did beat him... saw what he was doing and saw it coming because I READ HIS OLD FEEDBACK! Without it players can lose points to unethical behavior... if youve played freestyle you get it... and it has nothing to do with speed.... I was faster than him and thats why I got the upper hand... had to do with HIM leaving while losing so that 12 hours later he could gain an upper hand to break a bonus when I wasnt around. The whole reason I accommodate silver players and RT (a lot of us do in that 99% of the silver players are honest about it)is out of courtesy to simulate a gold member speed match wherein he would not have gotten away with that in a real speed match. And, again I will say... cheats and abuse report is not effective... I had to rely of his past negs... Moreover, there are all sorts of ways that unethical play can occur.... maybe a warning thread that tells newer players what to watch out for would be more effective....
