Yes he did, you never opened it.

In fact you never even bothered to check your mailbox.

No we are definately not living in end days. How do I know? Check out the charts at the moment. :geek:

The devil has all the best tunes and what have we got at the moment? The Hoosiers (Oh, I feel a bit queazy) Katie Melua (I need a sit down) Coldplay! (Oh my word, I think I'm going to... bloooargh)

If it means putting an end to the mediocre cakka that passes for music these days BRING ON THE END DAYS.

that comet is supposed to come closer to earth than the artificial satellites. at that distance, the intense heat will kill most of what is on earth (i'd expect) and rain debris down upon the side that faces it. either way, earth is screwed for awhile

Player makes a very good point about the dangers of homeschooling and the subjugation of
science in favour of dogma, in years to come the US may pay a price for the peddling of ignorance. Future prosperity depends on engineers and scientists not demon slayers, the safety of the planet depends on rational decision making not messianic zeal.

I agree. I am a big fan of homeschooling, but not in the way the religious-right is doing it. Never forget that the last time we mixed government with religion people got burned at the stake. :(

ROFL! You know, I'd never have thought to see the day when a "Christian" sides with the world. This is just toooooo insane to take seriously. Player PLEASE don't have children. :(

Why is it insane to warn against kids being brainwashed and denied a broad education ?
Why is it insane for a Christian to wish to be part of the modern world and not stuck in a quagmire of ignorance , not everybody is so shallow that they need to live in a darkened room to shield their faith from the beacon of Knowledge.Millions of people from all religions reconcile their beliefs with progressive thought, only the emotionaly crippled need to seek solace in the discredited and absurd myths of a less enlightened age,

Wow. Quite profound Senor Frog. Knowing two home-school families, I agree 100%. Among other things, I feel very sorry for their socially stunted children. These kids are going to have a very hard time at college...if they go at all. I fully expect them to go into full rebellion mode at about 17...their parents will look at each other in complete confusion...and then quickly point the finger at anything other than themselves.

The other side of the coin is that they will go to an Evangelical college and only work and socialise with other like minded souls , its social engineering for Zombies .

On the subject of homeschooling, my neighbor was homeschooled until 10th grade, when, in 11th, he went to my public high school. He was basically an outcast and probably will be next year too.

On the subject of scientific/engineering emphasis, I agree that the two need to be greatly stressed. We don't need anymore (and already have too many) poets, authors, movie critics, monks, anything of that nature. The future of the planet relies on the education, and the rational thinking of scientists and engineers.

Simply put. Christians are called "to be in the world, not of the world". That being said, any Christian can see how bias public education is. From teaching evolution as "the only possible explanation" to "we can't expect our kids to abstain so lets hand out contraception 'just in case' ". For a "Christian" to put down homeschooling where God has a chance to actually influence their children's life in favor of a godless, amoral, "tolerant" education system is OUT OF THIS WORLD! Dare I say "unChristian"?

Ok,... benifit of the doubt here. Prove to me that Jay's version of the history of the earth is, at the very least, plausable. Because 400 years of science mighta missed your impericle data. Maybe Einstien or Darwin F-ed up someplace, but Jay from New York is on to something.

And, I am mostly being serious Jay, I'm really listening.

No one does the condom thing anymore. Plus, very few people are abstinant, so while it may not be what you believe is best for your kid, it may be best for your community. There's a difference, I know you know.

Jay if there is no SCIENTIFIC alternative to a theory, then you accept that theory. You can puff all you want but the fact is they're teaching evolution in science classes because it's science. People who want to study religions go to theology.

And jay no you can't expect kids to abstain and I haven't heard of schools giving out condoms.

It happened once or twice and the teachers were reprimanded. But the freaks jumped on it and said SEEE!! IT'S EVERYWHERE!!!!!

But if you bring up religious leaders molesting children, wellllllll.....those were isolated incidents. ;)

That reminds me. I was on a flight recently from Minneapolis to Detroit and there was a woman beside me reading one of these "How to live a good life" christian self-help books. I couldnt help but glance over at one point and a passage struck me as very telling. It said "Only socialize with people of faith".

Nice. Shield yourself from the many different cultures and belief systems of the world. Only surround yourself with people that think like you do.

After all...you might just learn something.
