Civillization IV

Postby sam_levi_11 on Wed Jul 09, 2008 1:45 pm

any of you played this? What do you think? What are your favourite civillizations to be and why.

personally i favour the romans or the germans.

The Romans get a great head start as they get the praetorians early on when others are still using archers.

Meanwhile the Germans get the panzer tank later on and can claw back the disadvantage you have when on the higher difficulty levels.

I play, but I can't play above Warlord. Anything above that and the computer just gets amazingly cheap and suddenly you're at war with half the world for like no reason.

I'd have to download and install it to make a serious comment, the only one I played was the original Civilization. Good times... The barbarians would still be attacking with cavalry and legions when you had tanks and artillery, you only had to get them before they destroyed any irrigation.

I think you must be bored out of your skull to have to resort to discussing an RTS game on an internet forum.
That said, it be a good game, even though it has me take the predictable route of world domination.

ciz 3 was/is my favorite....the germans/romans/vikings were the best...vikings for their ability of the beserks to attack like marines when no other nations can. Germans for their tanks. and romans for their legionaries...

I liked French and Spanish. The replacement for the cavalry, which is pretty awesome by itself.
With spanish I can play a very militaristic country, but I've tried playing a culture/UN/technology culture and gave up after I had built hte UN and was advanced, but there was no way I could persuade the stupid Aztecs from invading, and none of my good friends on the huge map liked me enough to sign a defensive pact. So I started another game.

Love that game

I was big on Call to Power. Odd, nobody else seems to have heard of it. I miss those trade-route lines...

Playing this game online is fun, except when someone gets mad when I screw up and start abusing me lol.

I like being Gandhi with the Indians online because you can find hinduism really quickly before anyone else or Lincoln with the Americans.

I remember call to power...I don't remember the backstory, but something abou tit being a semi-civ game. Sid Meier wasn't involved. I play Civ 3 since my graphics card couldn't handle Civ 4. I am still saving up for a new computer. I only make $3 an hour, so it takes me a while.

Nah, it was totally a civ game. Same exact game play -- except of course none of the new stuff that's in Civ 4 like religions...

It was also really cool because you could have cities in the sea and in space when you got really advanced.

I play Civ 4: Beyond the Sword. In fact, it's the only video game I play.

I like to use the Japs because of all the free military promotions. I find that any level lower than Noble does not present much of a challenge.
