Instead of a relief map, I would suggest a wireframe digital look. There was a game a few years back called Uplink, and it went with a simplified worldmap (http://www.introversion.co.uk/cgi-bin/s ... plink4.gif). I would take a map similar to that, make it a green wireframe on the landmasses, and a blue wireframe on the ocean. That would give your Hack Attack map a very hacker-like look to it. If you went with relief + computer symbols, you'd look like a cheap knock-off of Classic with monitors and servers on it (boring!).

Thanks for the tip. I was considering something like that myself. After trying a 'normal' map it just was not working. I'm going to try straight lines and angles rather than curves. I'm going to attempt to make the map look like a computerised display.

That is a great idea. Noslen, when are you going to get a copy up? Once you do, this thread will be noticed a lot more.

Okay, I have worked on the idea that the map should be a computer screen display. I have added little computer screens to give an idea. I also intend to add a 'hacker's toolkit display' to place the map instructions in. There is still some work to do but here is a list of the changes to gameplay (already updated in the lead post) and changes that will be made to the map and graphics.

******************
***Gameplay***
******************

- All servers/terminals will be able to attack each other
- Only one special zone (antarctica satellite base/hacker territory)
- The special zone will be able to attack and be attacked by any main server

*******************
****Graphics****
*******************

- Grey box to be replaced by a satellite dish (Definate)
- Terminal screens to have keyboards added to the bottom (Probable)
- Main Server pictures to be included (Definate)
- Positioning of terminals and servers to be tweeked (Definate)
- Hacker's toolkit display to be added to the bottom of the screen (instruction box)
