My Great-Great-Uncle was in WWII. (His brother, my Great-Grandpa was the youngest son of a farm family, so he had to stay here)
One of my Great Uncles in 'Nam.
My Grandad was a Marine that served in between the Korean War and Vietnam (his service time ended just before Vietnam started).
2 of my uncles during 1st Iraq War.
1 is still in the service, but has not gone over yet.
A cousin's father has been over to Iraq twice.
And a few friends of mine have been over to Iraq as well.
"Eh, whatever."

As far as I know, no one in my family has been stupid enough to fight in a war

I know my grandpa was in the reserves during world war 2, but wasn't required and wasn't called up.

My great grandfather fought in Turkey before the Asia Minor Catastrophe. My great-great uncle was one of the leaders of the Cretan revolution against the Turks. Before that I don't know.

My dad is the only one I know of who was in the army.
But he didn't see any action, he was the postman! Which is actually a more important job than most people realise.

My grandmother was a nurse in World War II. My grandfather could not serve for medical reasons. I have some relatives that fought in the resistance in WWII.

Most of my family were farmers all over the world. I suspect many would have been involved in various conflicts that "hit their doors", but mostly, I think they tried to just make a living.

It is, it's ok if you don't agree with wars now and in the past but if you don't agree with the army you've got a problem, wars are bad but someone has/had to fight them and i just happend to be fighting them.

I place myself higher than the rest of you? I don't see where I even tried to imply that. As far as armies protecting me? Well I know for certain that Australia hasn't come under any threat whatsover since I've been born, which would imply that I haven't needed any protection.

Does anyone here like me? I don't know, but i don't care because it's an internet message board that doesn't matter - I just had a rad night out playing in my band with a whole lotta mates over from Adelaide - Would pick that over being nice and having internerd friends anyday

My granddad on mom's side served in Korea as a tank driver, but he doesn't talk much about that. Does talk about other wars though.
