Allow us to ignore mods

Postby wrestler1ump on Thu Jun 19, 2008 8:53 pm

This has nothing to do with the recent new mods thread, but everything to do with the fact that we should be able to put mods on our ignore list. We can still recieve PM's from them anyways, so business can be taken care of as usual. Do you guys think this should be an option?

If you really wanted to ignore the mods, you could just not read any of their posts. ;) I know many users do that already. ;)

I would have to use the form, with all its attached links and such. Not gonna happen.

oh dear, the angst, the despair. Having to conform, fall into line like another sheep on the conveyor belt. Yes, I see your point.

Mods shouldn't be able to be ignored, they're there for a reason.

Oh, and assume on the basis that because the few of us who don't have you on ignore only have you that way out of morbid curiosity, that your suggestions deserve no better audience than everyone else's and belong in the suggestion forum.

Shouldn't you be busy explaining why your latest batch of losses were do to something besides poor play on your part?

omg, I'm stalking a fictional kitten from a webcomic! I need professional help!

Really now, when did using the same avatar as an other person become the same as stalking them?

When the new forum came out, I and others suggested splitting the game and forum foe lists. And one of the reasons was people couldn't put mods on ignore for games. I certainly don't want to play someone who doesn't want to play me, since they might suicide or the like. However, I typically start my own games, so not usually a problem. I don't think it's fair you guys can't ignore us in the games (forums you're SOL), so if anyone doesn't want me or other mods in your games, just PM us.

i would just like to place a few mods on ignore so i don't have to watch their "warnings" drift to the bottom of my PM box... just kidding!!! actually, it doesn't take long for the unread PM's to drift to the bottom, but it is annoying, nonetheless... as far as games go, i'll play anyone. i don't know what it would take to get on my ignore list, for an active player... i don't have any on there.-0

This should have been in the Suggestions and Bug Reports forum, just because you're lazy and too cool to follow the rules doesn't mean you're exempt from the ump ;)

The foes list is a built in feature of phpBB3, if you wanted it split off, it would require hacking action on lack's part - and that would take away from other, much needed features which are coming up.

It may happen some day, but don't hold your breath, there are some things that are a LOT more important ;)

Oh, and if you want to ignore mods, don't be surprised if you find yourself stuck between a rock and an ban when you keep doing things wrong....owen.

That has to be the worst threat(?) ever... No offence Twill, but that sounds like he hurt your pride or something.

I think the bold portion of wicked's post sums up the best solution.

Speaking as a CC player who's just become a mod I'd built up a fairly small ignore list - maybe 20: perhaps 5 from my own direct experience and the others from their screamingly bad feedback. All were added to my ignore list so that I didn't have to play games with them. And I like to play almost exclusively public games.

However as a mod of a few days, and hence spending (even) more time in the forums, I've decided to delete my foe list since it has already become (even more) annoying to click on the "display this post" link each time someone on my ignore list posts. I'd like it back - just for games.
FREE M-E-Mbership and simple rules. Conquer Club - it's not complicated.

random me statistic @ 13 December 2008 - 1336 posts : 232nd most public posts (not counting Tower of Babble) of all time.
