Any Weezer fans out there?

Postby Siedshow99 on Tue Jun 17, 2008 8:33 pm

What do you all think of the new album? I've been fan since Blue - and I have to say I am impressed. Certainly a new direction for them, but IMO, a better direction than they've stepped in the past. I'm really into the second track "The Greatest Man that Ever Lived (Variations on a Shaker Hymn)" - I really dig the 'rock opera' bit. Anyway just wanted to throw it out there. Go Weez.

Blue is still my favorite Weezer album, but Red is slightly addictive. Weezer's music is great for filling in those odd moods where mainstream music fails so miserably to please.

I don't know about terrible...

I think they are a different band than they were 15 years ago. They'll always have a hard time trying to match Blue or Pinkerton, but for the most part, Red is a good effort by them.

My favorite line too, by far. Reminds me of one of their older lines off Pinkerton, "If I'm a dog then you're a bitch"

Gotta love Rivers at his wittiest!

Great band.
One of the best I have ever seen live. So tight, and they rock a lot harder than on the records.
Maladroit was my fav album.
But indeed, GO WEEZE!

Weezer is amazing. Loved 'em ever since Blue; although I was a bit disappointed with Make Believe... I'm also second guessing my taste in music since a Straight-as-a-Rainbow Clanny made this thread.

I wholeheartedly agree with Kap. Pork and Beans is one of my top two favorite music videos along with Here it Goes Again on treadmills.

I used to like them but was so disappointed by Make Believe that I haven't listened to them since.

Wow, that's some hardcore shit. Might I suggest taking it to FW and we can all watch the outcome.

Anyway,I like some of Weezers old songs but I'm no die-hard fan.

Sorry this got off-topic Strife...I started it as a Weez thread but Capitan took it to another level. Getting back on track...

Has anyone seen Weezer live? I caught them when they were touring with Saves the Day (another band worthy of its own discussion thread IMO) back in 2002. Amazing show. I also saw them play the Y100 Feztival in Philadelphia the summer they started touring on the Green album. Both were fantastic shows. Weez is one of the few bands that sounds just as great live as they do on their records.

I refer to members of your clan as Straight-as-a-Rainbow Clannys. Unless my playful nickname damages your fragile interwebz-ego, there's no harm done. Care to tell us something? Also, I believe it was you and your other Straight-as-a-Rainbow Clanny who derailed this thread in a piss poor attempt to insult me during your fit of rage.

I've seen a Wiener, erm... I mean Weezer live.
