I just found this forum and have a few questions. Im in my first game, but dont get why each of my countries have 3 armies in them. I am experienced at the board game (since the early 70s) but certainly wouldnt have put them out like that. Also, will someone explain how you do your final shift of men (fortify) at the end of your turn? If I knew that at least I could start to build something up. Probably have lots of other questions too, but this will help for now.

The placement on this site is 3 armies per country.

There are several ways that the games are set up for fortifications. Chained lets you have one fortification from one country to another as long as you own a path between both countries. Adjacent is from one country to the country next to it. In both chained and adjacent you only get one move. Then there is unlimited. You can make as many moves as you like but the countries have to be connected either to each other or have a path from the fortifing country to the receiving country.
