I agree. Also, Shawshank Redemption is probably the best movie ever made. And I am starting to believe that Super Troopers has the best intro to a film of all time.

One of my all-time favourites.

But you also have to read the book to complete the experience. It is only when you take them together that you realise that, combined, they are a major work of art which addresses the essential nature of storytelling.

That sounds pompous, but go read the book anyhow, that's not pompous.

It is a fantasy Rom-Com told from the perspective of Grandfather, Peter Falk (Collumbo) to his sick and surly grandson, Fred Savage (Kevin Arnold from Wonder Years)

Now this should be akin to creating a non-alcoholic cocktail, using Larks-vomit, camel-shit, earwax and guava juice!

However it is not! It is a piece of heart-warming genius; packed with swashbuckling swordplay and deftly delivered, well crafted one liners!
And all to the background music of an embarrassed boy, falling in love with the story enough to allow it unreserved Romance!

yeahhh! you're right Suggsy! those sneaky bloody women snuck in a Chick-flick and made us fall in love with it....

Oh, snogging's great. It was more the pompsity of rating the five top kisses since "the invention of the kiss". Sounded rather like balls to me.
And of course, it depends on who you are kissing. ;)

Excellent movie! The first time I watched it, I mistakenly thought that Mel Brooks had done it.

Anyways, it was still a great movie.

Sure it is, but if liked the four muskateers and such, you might like this. Loosely similar.

One of the more memorable lines:

"Aha, but I fence left-handed" ...[followed by opponent] "aha, but I fence left-handed!"

(or something close).

Sugg's Law: The first ponce to say "Ooo, the book is so much better than the film" is a complete, utter and irredeemable tool.

Oh man, that made me laugh.
"Some motherfuckers are always trying to ice skate uphill."

Duane: You know what they say about love and war.
Tim: Yes, one involves a lot of physical and psychological pain, and the other one's war.

um as I said before, you can't actually get what it's about until you've seen the movie and read the book. They were conceived as a pair.

So people who have seen the film without reading the book will fail to understand the film? Seems unlikely.
