Social reprecussions of decriminalising cannibals

Postby Dancing Mustard on Thu May 29, 2008 1:17 pm

So what would happen if we were allowed to eat dead people for food?
Would collecting road-kill become a big money business, and would a specialist resteraunt market open up to cater for demand?
Or alternatively, would things just get a bit weird in the whole "he totally just fell off the building on his own, and it wasn't my fault" front?

Unfortunately, my hungry friends, cannibalism is unhealthy. Try chicken, they taste pretty much the same, plus they are easier to catch. ;)

Yep, all the stoned assholes would get the 'munchified' feeling and take it out on their peers.

 Where am i again? I play a nation simulation game where this is an actual issue.

Actually in general it's not a pretty picture. It's the same problem that happened with cows when they started putting meat in their diet. It was common in early man and as a result there is a widespread gene present throughout the world that partly prevents the problems of ingesting rouge prions.

Dudes, like Kuru for the LOSS. There's a reason we got those Papua New Guineans to quit ceremonially eating each other, and it's not just that we imposed our Western values systems on them (and I'm probably even OK with that, in this isolated case), kuru is one baaad mother of a way to day.

On a side note, I am happy thinking of rouge prions, and how visually stimulating and tasty they could be.

If we only eat babies we should be ok, even if we eat the brains.

I just found a picture of an Asian man eating a crispy baby on Rotten.com. That totally made this whole conversation very sad.

I just copypasted the title from the other thread, that way this could cause maximum confusion.

*Jaw hits floor*

That was simultaneously sick, disturbing, and awesome.

I'm praying that it was a photoshop though.

Fake baby is what I'm thinking.

I remember a link someone posted a while back here where they had this shop which baked cakes or something shaped like human heads. They looked totally real, and also yummy.

Make room, make room for this spoiler: "Alice in Wonderland" is a dream.

And oh, that reminds me of the thing Tom Cruise said ( I may have posted this before, it struck me as so bloody stupid) about "War of the Worlds".
He asked the audience not to reveal the "surprise ending" - I was intruiged, I thought they'd sprung something new, like a novel I read a while ago in which the whole thing was re-set in "modern" times, and the aliens were defeated by 098yihkbsf
(censored).
But the surprise ending of the Cruise version was the same one from the 1898 book, the 1930's radio broadcast, the 1950's movie, and - hey, wait - maybe TC is, um, well, stupid. Could anyone remind me of his religious persuasion?
