You are not kidding.

It's torturously slow.

I think the RSS feed was overloading the server. Each time the feed runs it does a lot of crunching, ending expired turns and rounds. Some people are hitting the feed several times a minute (at this moment I see Jamie, AndrewB and Matt2006 as the worst offenders). I temporarily took it down and I'll bring it back tomorrow with some anti-abuse controls in place.

Certainly seems a lot faster now. Maybe another solution over rss is needed - a custom cc app for the notify that you control?

RSS is back up :P

I put in some caching, so that it will only update the info every 5 minutes even if you hit the feed every 30 seconds.

No Lack is referring to if you use an RSS reader, or the notifer or the new firefox add on.

Well, lackattack, if all your business logic happens on the page refresh, in php only, it will bring the site down sooner or later. Currently we have about 300 users online simultaneously. If the number will rise to 3000, it will be crawling no mater how often we are hitting refresh or reading RSS feed.

I am surprised (and scared) to hear, that CC does not really have a constantly running engine, independent from the php front end. You might want to rethink the architecture for the game. Cause i think even with 500 users, it will be crawling in the current scenario...

Possible improvements which will speed up the site are:
1. Pull out the business logic into separate application (ie. Windows Service if u are using Windows hosting environment)
2. Use AJAX in the game space.
3. OR use flash in the game space.

I know whose are huge changes, but without them, the only way forward would be getting new servers (load balancing) for approximately every 400-500 users...

Damn.......

I was thinking you could use more frequency grease on the octode rectifiers in conjunction with hyperbalancing the tesseract vector.

That always works for me........
