Yes.
The majority of people on this site are American and a large majority of America voted in Bush.

Twice.

Many Americans think that American idol is important. that doesn't make em right.

Perhaps Sturgeon's Law applies to opinions too?

I don't think most of them are meant to be demeaning. In jest, yes. But we put up with the same stuff without getting worked up. Just relax. We aren't out to lynch anyone.

I think we may have to agree to disagree here. As I go on in years I keep thinking that the premise of Chrisitanity (which we really havenot defined so in theory we could be discussing apples and oranges) while not very logical to the casual observer is the only real way anyone can actually deal with the not very logical to the casualobsever mass of humanity that is who we are.

I volunteer to help. Let's make a list.

Premises of Christianity:
  • Magical invisible Sky-daddy created the world
  • We're all sinners (whatever that means)
  • Magical invisible Sky-daddy impregnated a woman who gave birth to his son, who is the same person as the Sky-daddy mentioned before.
  • The son (who's also Sky-daddy) died under torture so Sky-daddy could forgive our sins and we can all go to this really nice place when we die, but only if we believe in Sky-daddy and accept himandhisson as our saviour while we still live.

YES. ;)

(Honestly I'd say more but I don't want to make this excessively off topic.)

YES.

You forgot to include the bit where the son (who is also his father) got turned into a zombie, bench-pressed a fucking huge rock and then wandered around aimlessly for a couple of days. I hear that bit is fairly important for some reason...

Well, perhaps I lied when I implied I was a bit nicer in real life. Perhaps the anonymity involved in this one got to me. Here's an example of my humor involved in being an atheist dick in real life:

On the bottom floor of the science building at my university, there is a study room with soda machines, some tables and chairs, and a whiteboard. As I went for a refreshing beverage before handling my yeast procedures for the day, I noticed a hodgepodge of writing on the board. The most eye catching thing was the blurb below.

A star in the East
foretold his arrival
Today he's the
biggest star
in the
West.
-Irony
Written like that in a descending triangle.

Below that, someone replied, "not exactly," and next to that, someone (I assume the original author) wrote "Close enough? Too close for comfort?"

In a different color below this exchange, someone wrote "Jackie Chan?"

Of this phrase, the J and the C were circled by some other commenter and the -ackie -han were crossed out. The circle looked remarkably familiar, and hence we come to my comment...

I crack myself up, and, is my handwriting terrible or what?

Chuckle chuckle. I didn't even read the url. I was curious what the hell kind of context that image would fit in. Surely not an artistic one.

I'd beware though DM, wicked got rickroll'd one time too many it seems, and now it's considered "trolling". We all know how much she loves to ban people.

Rickrolling is a legitimate form of art.

True dat.

You've got to get people off-guard enough to hit the link. Not easy to do in this day of red-alert cyber-caution... also your ruse is inevitably called within a couple of posts, as indignant suckers call you 'ghay' for catching them off-guard.

Thanks for that, tonka. It's not necessarily that I hate the concept of following God but there are some contradictions or problems that I have a problem with.
