No, but they seem to be getting better. Not good enough to be any competition to England, but better than they were.

We went to the last World Cup and beat Italy (how that happened, I don't know). But we focus a bit more on American Football. As do the Japanese (70 years its been over there apparently).

Actually they tied Italy, but did beat Portugal and almost Germany in 2002. Anyway, I'm guessing 2-1 England.

maybe it wasn't about soccer?
I'm no soccer fan, but if it was, the question was surely rhetorical.

So: what did you mean? Or were you just fishing?

Best politicians?
let's have some answers and some more categories.

That would be Rugby then.
Yes we do, and a pretty damn good one at that.
We won the Rugby world cup in 2004, and lost it to South Africa in the finals this year.

I remember that England tried to start a league of American Football. The only team I remember was the London Monarchs.

I think it all fizzled out, but not too sure.

Even if a future sport like Rollerball was invented - it wouldn't be able to topple Football in England as the nations favourite sport.

edit - just googled it....

They do compete...look at the world rankings:

1 Argentina
2 Brazil
3 Italy
4 Spain
5 Germany
6 Czech Republic
7 France
8 Greece
9 Portugal
10 Netherlands
11 England
12 Romania
13 Croatia
14 Ghana
15 Scotland
16 Cameroon
17 Mexico
18 Bulgaria
19 Colombia
20 Israel
21 USA
22 Côte d'Ivoire
23 Sweden
24 Paraguay
25 Turkey
25 Russia
27 Poland
28 Uruguay
29 Norway
30 Egypt

Better than Sweden, Ireland, Russia, Turkey, Norway, Australia, Belgium, Serbia, Ukraine and Nigeria....all of whome are strong teams. Although, the fifa rankings system is flawed, in the sense that Greece, Ghana, Spain, Scotland, Israel and Ivory coast are all grossly over-ranked.

Plus, at least USA qualify for all of their major competitions, unlike the fucking over-pampered english fairies.

I reckon the USA might do us 2-0....it's the kind of game we'd lose.

Oh, the US will win. England alwyas seem to lose aginst the US - something to do with colossal overconfidence and arrogance on our part, whilst not really being that good.
Plus the USA have had a decent football team (I refuse to use the word "soccer", sorry) for years.
So 1-0 to the USA.
