Dancing Mustard wrote:If by 'nice things' you mean 'blindly agreeing and not pointing out the obvious flaws in our arguments' then the answer is no we can't.
DangerBoy wrote:That's your incorrect assumption by saying "blindly" agreeing to things. You are being unpleasant to us because we're Christians.

Actually I was saying that we wouldn't blindly agree with everything you said, without pointing out obvious flaws. It appears that your witch-burning fervour has led you to misinterpret my post... a phenomena which I can't help but imagine lies at the heart of this whole issue.

DangerBoy wrote:Stop trying to say you aren't. It's obvious.
Nice to see you practicing that rounded, informed and balanced debating style that you are preaching.
Perhaps we can stop with the aspersions and accusations and try to deal in facts a little more? I really think we'd get so much more done if we all just calmed down a little bit. Don't you agree?

DangerBoy wrote:The group I listed above is for the most part, the only group of people here acting illogically.
No but seriously, aren't you the one saying that people should stop flinging insults around, and that we should stop just blanket-dismissing the opposition?

DangerBoy wrote:You don't have to become a Christian, but there are millions more people in this world that believe in some type of deity. So we must now believe that they are all saying illogical things and only atheists on conquer club are logical.
I'm sure that several hundred million smokers can't be wrong either. Or heroin addicts. Or rapists. Or Foot Fetishists...
Anyway, theistic banter aside; please find me a post where anybody you have listed in your axis-of-atheievil has ever expressed the sentiment you ascribe.
Don't take this the wrong way, but your zeal for this witchhunt (on which you appear to be fairly enthusiastically comitted) has apparently led you to dream up entirely new lines of argument that you'd like to condemn in the future... but unfortunately for you, you'll have to wait till we actually advance them before you can start haranguing us for doing so.
Anyway, find me evidence of anybody saying the thing you're complaining about, and I'll concede the point. Here's a clue: You can't, because nobody has ever said that.

DangerBoy wrote:No sarcasm, no derogatory snide remarks, no vicious puns, no mockery, or anything like that.
Dancing Mustard wrote:Remind me what it was you were saying about Heavycola's wife again?
Perhaps you missed the part where I apologized to him. At least I try to make amends when I recognize I've gone too far. I don't think I've observed you even making the attempt.
Again with the personal attacks? How unfortunate...

The point is that you yourself make precisely the kind of remarks you're spending your time complaining about. Great, so you apologised afterwards; sometimes atheists do that to (apparently you missed me doing it myself in this very thread). But sometimes you and your fellow theists don't, and sometimes atheists don't either.
The point, no matter how unwilling you are to concede it, is that you repeatedly do the things you complain about, with leaves your arguments hollow and baseless. Practice what you preach, then come back and tell me to do the same.

Dancing Mustard wrote:We're not picking on Christians or trying to wipe your beliefs off the face of the planet. We're just pointing out why your opinions are misguided whenever you set up threads to bang on about them.
For the most part, this is just not true. Why would it hurt you if people started threads about what they believed? Only an irrational person would get so upset by that. You're defining just about any Christian-related subject as "banging on about them". So by your definition, anytime a Christian said anything positive about God it's offensive.
Hmmm, a veritable snake's nest of shonky logic here; allow me to retort:

1. Who said we 'get hurt' by your "God = Kewl" threads? Engaging in debate over an issue is barely being 'upset'. It's just us stating that we disagree with your stated proposition. Come on, stop taking this so weirdly personally.
2. If we accept your odd notion that we're 'upset', then don't you Christian Chappys get equally upset when we atheists make threads? Apparently that 'Gay Marriage' juggernaut represents 80+ pages of christians being 'upset'... but really? Come on, it's just logical debate; it may upset you, but that doesn't mean that we're upset just because we want to state that we disagree with you.
3. By me using the informal term 'banging on about' (which I was attempting to mean 'being boring about') you've somehow extrapolated me being 'upset'; and from there you've gone on to imagine that all atheists are 'upset' whenever you start a thread about Gawd? I said 'banging on' because many of the threads drag over the same issues several times, which is dull; I don't quite know how you're deducing from that that atheists find it 'offensive' for you to big up your imaginary God.
4. In other words. That part of your post didn't make a great deal of sense, and I'm at a loss as to what precisely it was you were trying to prove/say.

DangerBoy wrote:After all the sarcastic hatred that you atheists have dribbled on about, it would not be too much to ask for to say some positive things about Christians, Christianity, or people who believe in God for 30 days. You talk about fair and balanced as being allowed to say negative things.
'Sarcastic Hatred', yet another pejorative insult hurled from the Christian Camp... hurled by the very poster who is currently pleading for debate to take a less hostile tone. Guess you forgot that he who is without sin is supposed to cast the first stone eh?

Anyway, you're mistaking the concept of 'telling you we don't think God is real' with 'saying all Christians are evil'. They're two very different things.
I've never said unpleasantly negative things about Christians themselves (based only on the fact that they are Christians), I've just said negative things about their beliefs and their seeming gullibility when considering them. That's a pretty far cry from the 'hating Christians' sentiments you're projecting onto me.
I know that your God stuff is serious business to you, but try to remember that you're not under personal attack whenever somebody points out the logical inconsistencies in your system of belief.

Also: "You talk about fair and balanced as being allowed to say negative things"
Yeah, that's kind of the point. Being balanced is the ability to say both positive and negative things. Your whole "I'll make a thread and you can only say nice things about Christians and not point out any of the bad things they have ever done, otherwise you are heathen scum" thread does't exactly do that. You're mistaking "us kissing your ass and pandering to you" with "us being balanced and pleasant to you"... again, two very different things.
In other words, you're being a bit precious about it.

DangerBoy wrote:You asked me to prove my point so I just did.
Not so much...
DangerBoy wrote:By your own words you made up an excuse not to even try.
No. I just pointed out that your alleged 'proving device' was flawed and biased. Different thing.
DangerBoy wrote:I knew you would do this but I just wanted it out in the open for everyone else to read.
And now they have read it, and can see exactly who is talking sense and reason.
Here's a clue, his name starts with a 'D', ends with a 'd', and rhymes with 'Dancing Mustard'.
