Your Vote?

Postby Sentinel XIV on Mon May 05, 2008 12:38 am

I want to know how all of you Americans will be spending your vote come election time. Will you be voting for a candidate, will you be voting against a candidate, or will you be abstaining? Just curious.

Voting for a candidate. Hopefully that's a pretty popular option.

Like it matters. (The election will be rigged as usual) But my vote won't go to Obama, Hillary or McCain.

So, you will essentially vote against Obama if he wins the candidacy, correct?

No. I think in light of his political stance, if he votes at all (for... a Constitutionalist?), he'd be voting against McCain, and for Obama.

I'll be voting for a presidential candidate.

On other races, particularly local ones, I sometimes vote against a particular person ... because its often hard to find out about local candidates except when they do something really dumb.

Oh, and issues can go either way.

Whether Clinton or Obama will be on the ballot is yet to be decided, at least as of today. Unless something major happens in today's primaries, it probably will be up to the "super delegates" to decide.

Unless something significant happens I'm going to be voting for McCain in November.

Normally that should not mean a damn thing; I'm from New York. This year, if the current trend continues it might just mean something. The state used to be solid blue, but recent polls show that neither Hillary nor Barack can get over 50% against McCain. The pundits are saying that New York has become a "purple" state that might go either way, so now more than ever my vote counts!

Yes I know that this year we may have a historic moment, but having New York vote Republican in the presidential election is a historic moment as well and I want to see that happen. (Even if he doesn't win the rest of the nation.)

They don't let me vote here.
Curiously enough I still have to pay taxes.
Now, where have I heard the phrase "taxation without representation" before?

You do of course.
Conversely, I can still vote in the UK, which would be representation without taxation, that I don't think anybody's fought over...

Not necessarily.  I am aware of the politics in my country ... and the democratic race isn't decided yet.  It probably won't be decided until close to the convention,  when "super delegates" make their decisions.

As a side note, even a lot of Amerians never knew about super delegates until this election.
