You are useless! They are programs that download files to your computer with pretty good speed because it pulls the data from multiple places (ie other cpus) if my understanding is correct. They can also be a bit shady, sometimes...

So BitTorrent for example -- is that what one would call a torrent? I downloaded it, and I don't understand how to use it at all...

If so, what the error actually means is the disc is unreadable or was written improperly. I'd put million to 1 odds it's unreadable by your system....make sure it's clean, free of glue and scratches etc. Try a different CD/DVD drive. Change from UDMA mode to PIO mode or vice-versa.(haha)
