What colors do you associate with which political wing?

Postby InkL0sed on Sat May 03, 2008 8:59 pm

Apparently, red traditionally represented left wingers internationally, and blue right wingers. But here in the US, it has been the opposite since at least 2000. I thought it was always like that (then again, I'm only 17 -- I was a little kid in 2000) -- but apparently not.

I like black, though I heard somewhere that it's not a color.

No, supposedly white is not a color.

White is also all colors put together! It really is a needlessly complicated argument of semantics.

Aren't most topics needlessly complicated arguments of semantics to begin with?

Here it's like what meggy said, social-democrat left is red and the neocommies are sort of dark red, conservative is black and liberal is yellow, and then we have a green party as well that has gotten itself into a coalition with the conservatives in Hamburg, I think that's a first so it could be interesting.

The left is normally associated with red cos of the Red Flag and Communist Russia.
I have no idea whether it was red in the 19th century, r where the Communists got it from.
Black for the blackshirts/fascists makes sense.
Most of these things are quite new, since slogans and badges and such only came in the 20 th. So i guess blue for the right wing is pretty arbitrary.

Colors are merely electrical interpretations of electromagnetic wavelengths. In short, it's all in your head, anyhow.

[off topic]

White is a color, it represents a mixture of all colors in the sectrum, black however repsresents no light, without light you can not have color. Therefor true black is not visable and therefor no a real color.

Sorry just thought I would make the point. :)

the right wing or conservative parties are for the rich, the blue bloods.

the left wing or labour parties are for the working class, as pointed out earlier they are socialist red.

OK, but given the lack of any socialist tendencies in Democrats (which granted, you don't technically have in Aussie, do yer?) I'd go with something like

Dems: Gold- for the wealth of the lobbyists that control them.
Republicans: Gold - for the wealth of the lobbyists that control them.
Green: Green - for all the dank beaster they smoke.
Constitution/far right wing: White - because they all agree it's the best color.

And if it voted Democrat with more than 60% margin, then have it colored like the LGBT logo. Democrat bastards...
